I made these for a friend and his three boys to say thank you for his letting me use his lease for free. Least I could do! |

Very nice! Is this the friend you had in Madisonville? Or was that another guy who said that |

Thanks. Pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Not sure. My friend lives in Covington, but the lease ("rice fields") is in Madisonville. |

That looks nice. Nice gesture and it is even better that you made them. I'm sure he appreciated the gift. |

Thanks. He's a really good guy. I was going to join the lease, but there wasnt a spot available. He said "no problem. You can hunt one of my blinds any time you want." of course, I offered to pay him something, but he wouldn't hear of it. I've always thought that gifts from the hands (home made) are gifts from the heart. |

This is my first year out there. Not as good as I'd hoped, yes, hit or miss. It's nice that it's close to where I live and it's easy, just wish there were more ducks. Thanks, B. I had used both braids separately in other projects. I was looking for a way to add some interest to the call lanyards when it hit me that they are both 4-strand braids it should work, which it did. I'm pleased with the results, but I haven't perfected the transition from one to the other yet. |

Yup that's the guy I was thinking and you answered my next question. Been looking around the area (northshore) for leases but as you know spots and info are scarce. I'm willing to go in with the right people if the cards are right. Sorry to thread jack. I'm sure those will outlast the crap stores sell now |

If your really wanting to get into it they've got several really good knot books at books a million my buddy got 4 or 5 from there with various braids an knots you ought to check them out. Don't remember any titles specifically but like I said there's only about 4 or 5 to chose from |

You're right, Brasso-a lot of the videos on YouTube are hard to follow/learn from. I've found a couple that presented the techniques in a way that makes sense to me. After I found them, I was like "why the feck was that other video trying to tell me to do the other way?!?" Same thing with the actual lanyard making. The finishing knot is super simple, but not something you'd probably come up with on your own. I'll post a few links when I get home. Btw, Hobby Lobby has paracord. The one by me had 100' lengths in all the colors I used plus several more. |

I hunted that lease for 2 years and yes It's convenient and easy.. Had to rebuild boat blinds every year and we never killed shit. Always trying to fix the levees which is a loosing battle. They do have trophy dos gris there. How have y'all been doing there? Btw, nice lanyards. |

You're right-convenient and easy, but nit a lot of good ducks. Couldn't go last weekend bc the field was nothing but a big mud flat. No way to get in even with a mm. He's talking to a guy about fixing the levee, but, yea, not gonna win that battle. Eventually the field and canal will be totally connected. That levee isn't but a few feet in some places. When it goes, it's gonna really go. Went a few weeks ago and got a few gw teal, a few buffleheads, some dos gris. Water's back but couldn't go bc I'm on call this weekend. Thanks. I'm pleased with how they came out. |
