Post Fishing Port St Joe
Anybody on here from the panhandle area of Florida? We go down to Cape San Blas every year and do a little fishing. Shark fishing is good off the beach, but we hit the trout and flounder with a guide last year. Debating on taking my rig with us this year or book with someone from here, if anybody fishes the area.

We will be down May 18-24th. I know the bite isn't great on much at that time and snapper season isn't til June, but that's when our wives like to go.

We are up for about anything. There are four of us, so that will limit our options this year. We've done shark fishing in the bay, and trout last year. You ever fish Indian Pass?

Sounds good. I'd much rather have you point us in the direction of a good guide than take our chances. The first guide we had didn't really have his stuff together. I'll talk to my in laws and see what they want to do. Thanks bud.

Yeah, that's how we ended up with that dude. The fella we used last year put us on some fish but it was packed on his boat with three of us. The other brother in law is coming this year, so we gotta find a bigger boat. You know the shark fishing guy on Cape San Blas? Catches big Bulls and Hammers off the beach. Hauls his bait out with a kayak.

I used Robinson guide service back in 2002. It was a great two days of fishing. The water was gin clear and the sight fishing was awesome. If I went again I would give bmartina a chance.

We have used Presnels Marina in Port St Joe multiple times. Capt. Alan always puts us on the trout and reds.

Man not to hijack your thread but if its season when you go y'all have got to go scalloping or whatever you'd call it. It was the second best thing we did on the honeymoon lol. We rented kayaks and went in the bay. Awesome time and fine eating....

We talked about renting or buying sit in tops to fish the bay ourselves. We buy our shark bait at Presnel's, discussed just renting a bay boat from them. It's the same price for all day as a guide is for four hours, if we can get on the fish.

We snorkeled off the sit on tops and dove down for the scallops. I'd like to do some of the canoeing on the river down in to Apalachicola. A bay boat would have been fun too though. Had plenty of them in the area we were in.

My neighbor here in Tn just bought one, no idea why he did that. Nonetheless I may just see what'd it would take to get his for the week.

back on topic, theres alot of great fishing througout the panhandle. But being you have limited time, i would take Brett's advice and recommendation on a good guide that can take your whole crew.

Yall make it to the raw bar last year?

Yessir! Other than all the Tebow memorabilia it's probably the best atmosphere/seafood I've ever had. I like that its a shithole old convenience store with self serve beer. The crab legs and gumbo about put me in a coma. Last year was the first time we ate there, but this year I'll go at least three times.

Scalloping season begins in July usually, and the work their way up the coast line. When they're there it is awesome. Pontoon boat, swimming, drinking, three great ingredients.

X2 on Robinson. Think you can book them through Orvis is downtown Apilachicola.

Probably just gonna charter a trip. We wade fish the bay and with the wives and kids one day away is about as lucky as we get anyway. Honestly catching sharks, barracudas, trout, sheeps head off the beach is the most fun. Gotta work on my shark release, had a big one about get me last year.

Stayed on cape San blas years ago during honeymoon and took the boat too. We fished blind (aide of a chart) and caught about 15 reds/Trout each day. We were there during October.

I love the place. No hotels or condo commercialized tourist traps. It's like an actual city with people that grew up there. Lots of good fishing even off the beach. We haven't got into any reds in may.
