My dad caught this blue in a trammel net the other day. He had to cut it out cause he couldn't get it in the boat. It's a 6" net so that should tell you how big this dude was.

How big did your dad think it weighed? If that is six inch bar mesh its a whopper for sure. The mesh on its mouth is stretched out tight. Whats your dad fishing for with that mesh? Our water temp is 43 degrees now. The river fishing is slow but soon it will be wide open.
I caught a cormorant yesterday in one of my nets. I went to grab it to release it and it snapped its bill at me and it made a clipping sound like a sharp pair of tin snips. I was able to grab its head and wiggle it out of the mesh. With just one mesh left on its wing before I was to let it go it bit me so hard across my left index finger I let out a howl. I think it was trying to bite my finger off. Fortunately I had a pair of heavy Atlas gloves on. I was able to tuck its head under its wing and threw it out in the river as hard as I could. It landed and swam off. My plans were to get it out of the net and put one of my net tags on its leg for a band and turn it loose. After the attack I was happy to get it out of my boat without stitches. That sob bit hard.
Tell your dad nice blue.
Krogers in Nov of last year I caught a bluecat that was around 30 pounds or so and it had a 24" spoonbill in it that it barfed out in the live well.
I once caught three bluecats in a net that barfed out nice sized ribeye steaks on the boat floor. The steaks were all the same size. It appeared that someone threw out several packages of ribeyes into the river and the blues ate them.
I caught a flathead around twenty pounds that had six 3/4 pound crappies in its belly.
I have seen snakes, rocks, zebra mussels and several muskrats in catfishes bellys.
I have caught many heartbreaker catfish too. Those with hook, line and sinkers hanging off their heads.
