Do any of you guys on here catch soft shell turtles. If so how do you catch them. I heard they are very hard to catch but I want to try and catch some. I have been seeing some huge ones around where i live. Any info would be great. Thanks |

Alligator snappers are fun but you can only have one per boat per day ( legally anyways). Soft shell are the best eating turtle and you can have as many as you want. I fish with nets for soft shells but jugs work too and are cheaper. |

Thanks guys. I will be trying something soon. Kind of hard right now with my work schedule. Will post pics if we catch any. The ones i have been seeing I's guessing go about 20-30 lbs they look like little trampolens and small tires. |

That one was 52 lbs. I'll see if I can find a picture of some real big ones we've caught before. 115 lbs, 80 lbs, and 72 lbs all in one day about 2 years ago. Of course we had to let 2 of them go... |

Soft shells can be caught the best using a turtle net baited with fresh catfish. When the river drops real hard a lot of times my hoop nest will be in about four foot deep water. I will have a net full of catfish with a load of soft shells that could not leave. Thanks for the pics of the big alligator snappers. Love them big ol guys/gals. |
