Post Navionics Platinum Maps for back waters
Hey gentlemen,

I am new the forum and mud motors. I am impatiently waiting for my 1646 GTB with 25GTR to arrive.
I just purchased a GPS and was wondering if anyone finds the platinum map with satellite overlay helpful while running in "unnavigable" waters? Any insight would be appreciated.

Hunter

I use Navionics. I have not used platinum maps. I run tracks when I get in to uncharted areas. I will set Markers on my track if it's a poi I wan to come back to.

I am originally from Houma, but I am in the Army and currently stationed in Maryland. There is a 26000 acre WMA about 2hrs from me that's suppose to have some good duck/goose numbers with not so many hunters.

I see. The maps are different in each area, and I'm not familiar with that region. However, anything with sat overlay should give you a good starting point.

I know on the Ten Tom water way the Platinum is the only one that shows anything on Columbus lake Gainsville Demoplis Aberdean all them little places where the regular Navionices card doesn't and places like Ross Barnett Rez the Platinum shows alot more detail then the Regular Navi card.

Navionics has a new system out. You can upload the area on your computer and send it to Navionics and they will do their thing and send back so you can load the new info onto your device. I seen a presentation on this in St Louis a month back.
