YEAHH YEAHH.. I knew it was comming..... Man I wanted it so bad.. I found out Friday Morning that I couldnt get in the Pipeline that we caught the monsters in last year. I can say that i found ponds that probaly arent even on the Map. LOL.. We put over in Berwick.. went down to Chicken Island.. Jumped in a couple of ponds, and NOTHING>>>> the territory was perfect!! From there, hit shell island, then from there, hit ponds that i accidently found.. Went from pond to pond until we got to the Cut. Jumped the cut, and frogged a couple of ponds towards the bay, (many had yellowbellies),then worked our way back. Ended up getting back at 3am.. at around 2am, it started pouring... It was soo bad, if i would have been driving a car, I think i would have pulled over. My motor is F*&ked... It that point, i was running 50%gas and 50%water (from rain) I had my plug pulled, and more water was comming in than going out..NOT GOOD.. End Result, NOT WINNERS ![]() I wanted to win so bad, because I was all about the cause... I was just going to turn around and give Mike the winnings back.. Its worth more to the Society than it is to me. DELTA... I think me and your dad are going to go jump over all the build up in his airboat and go catch the MONSTERS... I cant get over how in less than a year the bayou could get built up as much as it was.. I EXPECT SOME RAGGING, SO BRING IT ON !!! |

On the subject of Chicken Island, it sounds like some more Miami Corporation BS. They want to claim anything and everything! If there are any questions about state land, call Clay Carter at the state land office @ 225-342-4600. I can assure you that you won't get any help from David Naquin who is the Sheriff - St. Mary Parish. He will take sides with Miami Corporation no matter what proof you have otherwise. Years ago, the state leased hunting rights on the north side of Chicken Island, but it caused such a controversy, after a few years they didn't renew the lease. So that should verify who owns Chicken Island unless David Naquin or Miami Corporation decided to change the law behind our backs once again. |

[quote="UNCLE-J"]Clay just called me back.. I called for him before lunch.. He said that Chicken Island was leased about 20 yrs ago, but due to the high public demand for State Deer Hunting Land, the lease was not renewed. He stated that there was NO State land leased out for hunting in the Entire state of Louisiana. SO, CHICKEN ISLAND IS STATE LAND.. ANYONE CAN HUNT. lol, aight then. Guess you'll find out when you go hunt it. |

If you go to the (atchafalya basin state land map) scroll down to Chicken Island and you will see the area in question is not shaded "state land" anymore. I know the people that are paying Miami for the rights to this land. I hunted this land in question for over 15 years. I am not too happy about ANY land company claiming a state owned sand bar as private property but, I see both sides of the coin. With all this being said & taken for fact. I have claimed the big island in the middle of the river at crew boat cut. From this day on it will be referred to as Hep's Island. The southernmost point will be referred to as Coondik Point. This will not be considered part of the United States either or at least until we have another Republican President in office. I will be leasing sections to anyone interested. See its that easy |

Funny... I just talked to Scott, and he explained.. From what he said, Miami claimed the state Land, then leased it to his Uncle Lee. |

In reply to Chicken Island, if Miami Corporation leased you the island, they are stealing your money!!! They did the same thing in other parts of the parish. I would have to ask the person that leased this island to provide the lease papers from Miami Corporation and if Miami will press charges if people are hunting on the island. It seems this will open a can of worms because I'm sure that these sportsmen will file a suit against Miami for their false claims. However, as I stated before, you will not get assistance from the Sheriff since he will show favoritism to Miami Corporation (as he has in the past, even though his predecessor didn't). We need to band together and not allow these corporations to dictate our lives when it comes to hunting and fishing!!! Everyday, our freedoms are being obliterated. We need to write our representatives and complain. Clay Carter with the state land office has confirmed that Chicken Island is state land. Probably the only reason it is not marked as such on the Atchafalaya Basin state land map is that it is an oversight. They have a state surveyor attempting to mark all this land and waterways on the map, but Clay stated that it is a monumental task and some of it will be initially overlooked, but will be corrected. Just as Mr. Hepler stated, if that is the case, anybody can lay claim to whatever land is considered suspect. The Miami, Continental, St. Mary land corporations, etc... need to be stopped before they lay claim to all our public property. |

I have not talked to Clay Carter, but I do know how he stands about Chicken Island. I will call him tomorrow. The problem with the state is they are not willing to fight a court battle with the powerful land companies and the land companies are aware of that. I was in a battle with Miami several years ago over another piece of property. The state and Miami drew up an emergency rule letter for this property. It allowed anyone to hunt this land with certain stipulations. I worked with Clay and took the state surveyors in my airboat and they plotted the boundary lines with their GPS's. Since Miami didn't allow airboats on their property, they had an agreement to not allow airboats, marsh buggies, & hovercraft on the property. There was an attempt by myself to represent the public at this meeting, but the sheriff would not allow me to attend. He claimed that only the lawyers with the State and Miami and he would be present (true political hoopla at it's best). Anyway, I will call Clay and post his reply tomorrow. |
