1. dont ask for public land info on the net... it's there for everybody to use, so go use it. and 2. keep your head down, things can get tense in a hurry with some of the boys |

There are lots of good places to go. Depends on what part of the state your trying to go. Bring a GPS, the woods all look the same. Some of the locals are cool but most of them aren't gonna be willing to give much advice. Can't say I'd be willing to give up my spots for tourists either. Bayou meto, black swamp and my personal favorite Raft Creek are all great. Plan a day to scout. The only bad thing about taking a trip is you cant schedule the weather and timing is everything. Best of luck |

People get bent out of shape when they see their spots getting posted online. Like i said before, your not gonna get much help. I get it, but at the same time it kind of ticks me off. Hard to take a freelance trip and feel good about it. Mostly cause nobody is willing to help make your trip worth it. They would rather see you fail. Like I said before u gotta take a chance |

I hunt DD in the NorthEast as a ooser. Watch the weather and plan an afternoon boat ride with a GPS . Lots of holes. Get there darn early and be willing to share if someone comes in on you |

To the OP: The best advice I can give you is to travel there and scout. I've been going to AR for years and have tallied more bad trips than good. But, I always leave a little more satisfied than the time before because I always learn something new. Its an ever changing place - water levels fluctuate and the birds always move. A spot that you smoked them in last year may not even have water this year. So, you've got to be mobile. I usually walk in - but a walk-in may be 1.5 miles carrying all your gear. I'm not going to name places for you, so please do not ask. If you want to do well you need to research the WMA you are targeting and come up with some sort of game plan depending on the conditions: Ex: weather, water level, wind, etc. Another thing to remember is that you don't necessarily need a huge open canopy and 3' of water in the timber to kill mallards. Some of the best hunts I've had are in a tight tight canopy in 3" of water. So little that the leaves on the bottom are nearly sticking out of the water. I hope this helps. |

Go to the public land right at shooting hours. Listen for gun shots. More the better. Then ease that way and get within hearing distance. Wait until they are done and gps the location and either go back to the truck or let them clear out and then set up and hunt. That seems to be what others do to me so I figure its good for them. The next day get there super duper early and jump the hole. Be aggressive when they show up and dont let them hunt with you. They will not let you hunt with them. When done early go and do the same thing at least twice a day. In a three day hunt you will have six spots to hunt or post on the internet. If they get nasty with you post the gps cords on the fuge. Remember to put a lock on your reese hitch and boat trailer latch. Remind those that oppose its public land not theirs. |

Come on net...if u have such a sincere disdain for assholes on public land don't hunt public..it's public...everything they did is within their rights..do I agree with it? Hell no! But it's what you have to deal with..be the guy who turns the other cheek.. |
