 Re: Decoy rigging
Make your own Texas Rigs. Let the decoy slide and not the weight. Never have wet hands again. I use 400lb Mono and Crimps from here. Some prefer weedeater line. http://www.snlcorp.com/SNL/Other/DuckDecoyKit.aspx

 Re: Decoy rigging
I use the Avery keel grabber system. I like the stretchy cords--they give great action when there's a wind--and using slotted bags, there's nothing to rub the finish off.

I like the Texas style, seems better than rig em right. Anyone know a cheap place for 4oz weights?

 Re: Decoy rigging
We ordered our own material and did it ourselves. If you did as many as we did ~20 dozen it comes out way cheaper around 8.00 a dozen. If you only need a couple dozen buy em done already. It ain't worth it to save 20 bucks in my opinion

 Re: Decoy rigging
^^ about to do the same. I have a shit pile of old lead straps. I also have access to all the wheel weights I want. Time to get a larger ROI and lower the TCO. Buy a mold for $50 and get free lead. Just takes a little labor and a few cold ones.

 Re: Decoy rigging
The weight being close to the keel when you are holding the loop, also helps throwing out decoys. As the decoy is flying, the weight pulls the line through the swivel. Very seldom do you have lines over decoys or wrapped around the head.

 Re: Decoy rigging
I make mine custom because I need multiple depths to hunt lake and marsh.
From bottom to top: loop, crimp, weight, decoy, depth adjuster, crimp, loop
This way there a lot more versatile and u can change depths easier.
Also there's a guy up north on eBay that makes weights and ships free...it ends up around 1/2 price of what academy sells them for.
