 Public treestand security
I was wondering who bowhunts public? Weve got a place Ive always wanted to try because you gotta go pretty far out of the way to get to it... drive there then by boat down river on this island between the lake and this small stretch of river. Anyways lots of deer sign but im wondering about how to go about chaining up my stand? Any tips to keep others from taking my stand if I get it setup and leave it? I seen use bike locks but im thinking heavy chain and padlock? Ive heard another guy hunts the area so I thought about talking to him and try to make a friend and not a foe on public especially if Im gonna leave a stand there...thoughts?

 Re: Public treestand security
I hunt out of a tree climber, don't usually leave it out because i am always hunting a new spot. I do hunt with a bunch of guys that have multiple climbers and if they stay in a certain spot for a couple of days they will run a cable that they made through the stand and pad lock it to the tree.

x2 the climber. I hunt strictly public land here in Maryland and you are not allowed to leave a stand. I have a summit razor. It light, comfortable and easy to climb with. If you are going to leave a stand. They make cable locks for tree strands. I would leave the stand up and remove your climbing sticks when you come and go.

If u would rather not tote a climber they are making more lock on stands with brackets that can left on the tree and the stand easily removes. I use millennium stands and they offer this. This leaves ur climbin sticks in a tree tho.
Have u though about a ground blind or do u need to be elevated?

 Re: Public treestand security
I know they are more expensive, but I spend allot of time in my lone wolf climber. I've got a summit viper that I quit using. lone wolf is the way to go for bow hunting. id sell that summit if somebody wants it.

 Re: Public treestand security
Buy a cheap ladder or use a climber. Also use a lock on and remove the first two sticks
Pm sent on summit
