Ive got a bunch of older decoys that are just sitting in the shop and taking up room... I dont want to just throw them away, so what are some things you can do with old decoys? One idea was cutting the keels and using them as decoration. Whats some other idea's? |

Find a younger person who is just starting out hunting and give them away. A kid who is in college (i guess your age) started duck hunting with some of us last year and he never had before, i was in the process of upgrading all of mine so it was a win, win. If you don't know anyone, post em up here on the pay it forward I'm sure another member can find someone. |

u can cut the keels and make some bilge pump swimmer decoys or use some quiver magnets on the bottom and make like a quiver butt style decoy. |

Brasso, Save a few to train your new dog. You're going to want to train him to ignore decoys (and to swim through them) when retrieving. Lots of dogs will try to retrieve the decoys the first couple times you put them out and throw dummies into them. So if they bite an old decoy you won't care. |

I repainted a bunch of my old ones into redheads and blue bills for afternoon diver hunts on the bay... Not sure if that applies to you guys that hunt lakes though. |

We fill all our old decoys with foam and re paint them over winter. Get you a 75$ air brush and go to town in the off season. Won't take long til you get pretty quick at painting a decoy. Then they are tough as he'll too, can take a load of pellets and not sink. |

I would just hit em with a scrub brush with soap and water, then wipe with mineral spirits or something. |

We always just power washed them. We used soap in our power washer too. It seems to take off the paint that would flake. Then cleaned em up like Owen said. |

If you wash them before painting use laundry detergent for the soap. Don't rinse them, let that detergent water dry on the plastic. It helps enamel paints bond to the plastic better. |

I just spray painted all my old crappy decoys, the regular ones all became divers, the magnums are now geese. Take less than 5 min a decoy. |

You can drill a whole in the suzies and fuk them. Don't do it with the drakes cause that would be weird. |
