 Foam filing decoys
Has anybody used any type of foam for filling their decoys. I've got some ghg dekes that I'd like to have a touch more weight in em for rougher water. My buddy tried great stuff on a turkey decoy and it never quite dried all the way. Any recommendations?

 Re: Foam filing decoys
My buddy foam filled some of his that were shot up. I don't think he has had any issues with them, but he is a cheap bastard and cannot be wrong about anything. So if it didn't work he wouldn't tell me.

Careful which foam you use. My idiot buddy used window and door jam foam on a dozen brand new diver dekes. They ended up being so heavy they turned into submarines.

 Re: Foam filing decoys
Be carefull not to overfill cause some decoys will swell and then they want to flip over

Drill a hole in the tail and one on top of the head them just cut off the excess, works a treat. I do it too my geese to stop the hollow slap sound they make in rough water.

 Re: Foam filing decoys
Filled a few cripples, the hot glue worked better. Now that I have got rid of my plastic dekes and made some out of cork, this is not an issue. I do have six Higdon foam filled plastic ones I kept and they are a good product.

 Re: Foam filing decoys
I tried it on some cheap tanglefrees that were shot up. I believe I used great stuff, as well. It worked great, BUT you gotta be careful not to fill em too much. That stuff expands like crazy. It actually separated one of the ones I filled. When you do it right though, they dance around a lot more realistically on the water IMO.
