What are the best all around four wheeler tires out there? I'm looking for a light, all around tire. What do y'all use?

Try out some of the radial "all terrain" 4 wheeler tires. Know a few guys running them and love em. What you puttin em on? If side x side I would run the outlaw radials.

swamp lites, mudlites, 589's are a few of the good all around tires. outlaws, silverbacks, moto monsters etc. will cause alout of damage if u have stock parts

Right now I have a set mud machines on my grizzly 700 ducks unlimited. I love the tires but I don't think they make them anymore and I'm gonna need to replace not too far down the road.

I run Itp mud lite xtr on can am and love them. It's a radial mud tire . Runs smooth with no vibration at high speeds and grabs good in mud or loose terrain. They are not and extreme mud tire but they work good for all around use

I work for a wholesale 4 wheeler parts company and we sell thousands of every tire imaginable every month, for a good "all around" mud terrain tire alot of the guys already have it covered.

Mud-lite and Mudlite XTR's, Swamp lites, Maxxis Zillas, are all good tires.
I would also look at Reptile Radials, STI Black Diamonds, STI Outbacks (new tires, look pretty good) Maxxis Ceros, good ole Super Swampers, or ITP Blackwaters

If you want a cheaper tire, look into Carslile 489, Kenda Bearclaws, GBC Dirtdevils, or Slasher 301/401's

Personally, If I had to have one set of all around fourwheeler tires forever, they'd be mudlites.
I have a set of 25" Bearclaws just for a cheap set to put on my wheeler when I hunt WMA's with tire restricions

Very good post Woodie... Very accurate as well.... Maxxis Zilla is one of the lightest tires on the market till this day and have been for some time.. They make a good all around tire, and are the lightest... The one tire id choose alongside those would be mudlites.. mudlites are a great all around tire.

I vote stocks!! I have a new ranger that is bone stock and is staying that way!! But I also have a rubicon with 28" outlaws on it!

If I ever wear the tires out on the ranger I will probably go with the mud lites.

Mudlites are a good tire for jus riding trails n shit wouldn't put em in the mud. Outlaws are a good tire an so are backs I've rode 30 silverbacks an 31outlaws and 32s all on same stock axles! Never broke anything on my canam. These are heavy tires an will fuk some shit up if you are heavy on the throttle! they both pull hard in mud an will float good in water. The silverbacks are more thicker rubber and last a lil longer than outlaws but the outlaws ride smoother on road. I enjoyed my 32s the most

Would it be better to go shorter and wider or taller and skinnier?

I'll probably end up with zillas

Post subject:  Re: Best four wheeler tires

Go with 27-28 10s all around would be my vote

The Zilla is a light tire, but they almost seem "too light" if you run in cut overs or stobby trails, i wouldn't recommend them

i have mega mayhems and i really like em..suppose to be just like zillas but a tad tougher and only a little bit heavier..i have 27s all the way around and my 420 turns them in the thick no problem and they are pretty smooth on trails

I've got 29.5 outlaws on my 09 grizzly 700 DU edition. Now with that being said with the super aggressive mud tires you need to go with stronger axles. I run gorilla axles front and rear. Somewhere around $250-300 each. Have 4 inches of lift and 2 inch wheel spacers. Now tall and skinny (also called pizza slicers) cut down deep and to the bottom. Fat tires displace mud and tend to float. Mine are the wired. 29.5x12 and 29.5x10. I went wide because I do more water riding than mud. Its snorkeled and rear tires are ½ full of water to sink them to bottom instead of float. Makes water wheelies so much easier. I ride 5-6 from deep water all the time. Now this isn't good on bearings so maintenance is increased.

Post subject:  Re: Best four wheeler tires

those are the heaviest tires on the market.

have seen them with that middle knob grinded off, they are sick.
ive seen a can-am with the mombas and middle knob cut off and it just destroyed the mud hole.

man ur best bet is zillas. if u plan on ridin a lof ot mud go with the mega mayhems. im bout to put skinny wide combo 28s on my big bear, 14" rim.
9s in the front and 11s on the back

I fuckin hate those black mambas, the 32x10x14 weighs like 75 lbs I believe... Retardedly heavy.

If you don't put your bike off in stupid mud holes to FSU and you actually use it to hunt and ride trails The Zillas will be good tires, I'd just be worried about punching holes in em.... If you do decide to get some Big Azz tires, buy slasher axles and pay for my huntin' toys

I know this is probably hard for some of you to believe but not everyone runs there 10k four wheelers in 10 ft of water for fun they actually use it to hunt and use on ranches and deer leases.the guy asked a good all around tire, not what is the best extreme mud tire which are out laws and silver backs both of those tired ride like shit on hard pack and at good speed ,so neither is and all around good tire lol, damn fools

Goodyear Mud Runners will surprise you, pull good, ride smooth compared to many others and they last a long time.

Post subject:  Re: Best four wheeler tires

Oh and I prefer a 9" wide in front and a 12" in back, not same width front and back, this makes it easier to steer plus the skinny in the front leaves something for the back to grab! Never understood why people run the same width all the way around, I've seen them just dragging the back because it's already rutted out by the front...

Might think about the swap lite tire if your looking for a lite all around tire that's wears good. A friend of mine has a set of these and he went every where I went on my outlaws at mudfest last year. He runs stock axles and his bike handles them well.
