Anybody hunt avianx decoys? Going to make an order tonight and was wondering about the durabilty of the paint. I had planned on dakotas but just left gander mtn and the paint scheme on the dakota hens looks like a 3rd grader painted them compared to the avians. I do like the body profile (taller) of the dakotas though.

I'm going to try and order some before season. I looked at the Dakotas and don't really like the flocked heads because I hunt in some muddy water from time to time and don't want the heads to look like chit.

I'm interested in the durability in them too before I drop the $$ on them.

Sent from my beeper.

I hunted with a dude last yr that had dakotas and the flocked heads look good but at least you get regular heads too so when the flocking gets jacked up you can swap em

That's why they're so much cheaper this year.

I was gonna buy a dozen of these but before i did I looked at em in bass pro. They are really soft you can sqiush em very easily. And there was paint chips in the bottom of the box. I wouldn't waste money on em.

I have both Dakotas and Avian X. Dakotas are better made--better material, better paint, swivel heads. Unless they totally changed the paint from last year--you'll love it in the field. All the guys I hunt with are shocked at how real they are.

For me, a mix of the two is perfect. 12 Dakotas and 6 Avian X Backawater (feeders). I'd get all Dakotas if they came with feeder poses too.

Thanks for the info. Wish i could find regular replacement heads. All ive found are flocked and i know once the flocking starts wearing that it will bug the shit out of me.

Went with dakotas. Found a place that has the regular heads included too, with free shipping and looks to have last yrs hen paint (which i like better). 148$ to my door. Happy with that deal, just took some looking. Thx again.

I need to get some fresh mallard decoys, my GHG progrades look kinda rough.

I know a guy that swears by flocked decoys, late season he runs like a dozen fully flocked mallards and says it helps on shy birds.

I like my Dakotas, I did not like how plain the hens looked so I touched them up a bit (didn't need to, but wanted to). Going on 3 seasons with mine and I have only one decoy that has a tiny chip in the paint.

How awesome would it be if the Avery decoys started playing that dramatic music they have in their show every time a bird started approaching it, I'd feel like Fred himself.
