Actully now that you say it, yes. Afew years ago we had 3 in one of our ponds and they kept circling and circling and coming back. We saw those same 3 in multiple hunts. Then they started to annoy us one hunt and my cousin shot one. We never saw them again. I think they were lost. Thats the only time in my 20 years of duck hunting.

We see some occasionally but not frequently.

That's a good one. We get them on the bays here in Texas in decent numbers late season

I've got one on the wall. Seen 3 killed in Arkansas. Killed one on a big deep lake, and the other 2 on a small oxbow in the woods (I think they were lost).

I love it when they are high up and lock up. Sounds like a jumbo jet. Don't know how many times I got busted by them because I was looking in the sky to see a plane and it was them. They are the last birds to show up by me along with the cans and greater bills

They were killing Goldie's up north about a week or two ago. I imagine they ran out of soft water and had to come down.

I have this little guy in the freezer now. Shot him about 2 weeks ago.

I shot one of those in PAC when I was about 17, but it was me and a buddy hunting and I didn't know what the fuck it was so we threw it back

Didn't wanna get busted by old green jeans. Wish ida known then what I know now, it'd be on the wall.

I've killed a few golden eye in west Texas jumping ponds. It's weird cause you will jump one pond and kill buffelheads and a few golden eyes and go to the next pond and shoot all gads and pins and widgons. The golden eye and the pink footed buffelheads are pretty birds

Thanks, Owen. Looks good. I'm debating flying vs standing.

I'm not sure how I'll have mine done either. I'm thinking I won't go with a flying pose because I'd lose what I like about the buffie. I think I'll have him standing and preening. That way his comb will be puffed up and I can see his cute little feet.

I think it's very uncommon to see barrows. I don't remember ever seeing one.

They do this funky thing with their head when their courting:

CommonGoldeneyeTSa4[1].jpg1601761411_6a125eca42_z.jpg

I always wanted to get a pair mounted under glass like that. They also nest in tree cavities like a woodie, so putting one on top of a nest box is another idea....

Thanks, Man! Yeah, I love that distinct whistling sound they make when they're flying even when you can't see them.
