With the cold weather we thought we would hammer the ducks at the end of the season everything was froze up and hardly any ducks. Two weeks later we got 8 inches of snow and everything is still froze and you cant keep the ducks out of our geese spreads now that you cant shoot em. I dont know what makes em show up. |

Schmo, the last 5 years or so I have been putting a plain white sock on than stuffing 3 hand warmers in a wool sock by the toes. It has been a godsend. Also when field hunting I got those gerber lay down bling heaters. They work off a rechargeable battery. They are able to to 120 degrees for 4 hours I think |

What water is still open in -25? Shouldn't the feed be a few feet under snow? |

They are digging by me to find the corn. Geese will lay down to melt spots in the snow. I think there body temp is really high. No matter how cold it gets by me there are a few springs that stay open. Mallards and Gads will stay outside of warm water discharges and gorge on minnows on lake Erie. There is 1000 puddlers by me that are holding in a sewage treatment plant, feasting on my fecal matter. There is a field by me that if you hit it right when there is a big snowfall and the cows come out and dump right after it the mallards and blacks will swarm in to eat the grain out of there crap. It amazes me how resourceful these birds can be |

I love how people will turn their noses up at spoonbills and such, but pretty much all ducks at some point have loafed in sewer ponds, and literally eaten shit. ![]() |

Nothing wrong with mallards and geese. I'm hoping to kill the same this weekend. Haven't been able to hunt since Dec. 7th and I'm about to go nuts. What part of MT do you live in? |
