 Re: motion decoys
I run a mojo in early season but around the beginning of 2nd split I quit. Seems to hurt more than help.

 Re: motion decoys
I like the higdon pulsators and swimmers. Depending on the day I'll put up to three swimmers out and a butt or two. Also have the higdon spinning wing floater. Regular spinning wings get put out as the need arises.

 Re: motion decoys
I don't even use mojos outside of teal season anymore, they really don't work like they used to.
I used a jerk string for movment all this season because its so light and practical. I am thinking of riggin up a mallard machine type deal from an old trollin motor. I'd like to have constant ripples even when nothing is flying that way there is life in the spread when they shiat all over you with the first pass. It would be nice to have ripples without worrying about them seeing you snatch the cord too!

 Re: motion decoys
Also had a buddy buy and try a couple of these. Don't waste your money. Wasn't strong enough to move decoy in still glass water and both fell apart before next hunt. Thumbs down

 Re: motion decoys
6 mojos for teal season. Maybe a couple for the first week of hunting the marsh. As for hunting the big lake they are a must. 3 floating mojos and the divers can't resist.

 Re: motion decoys
I use a wonderduck and jerk string. If there are veggies in the pond, wonderduck and quivers etc don't work well.... The ripples never get past the immediate area.... A jerk string will move more water..... I rigged up a cheap canoe trolling motor that worked for half a hunt before breaking plastic prop. Gonna try again with a better trolling motor. The idea was great. Reverse the motor and stir up the mud. Forward to create waves....

 Re: motion decoys
I think a muddy pond is more attractive to ducks....looks like feeding is going on.... mud and motion I think are key. I also use some herters sucduck foam decoys that swim in very light wind. And the cords tie to the heads, so they swivel as the body swims......

 Re: motion decoys
Jerk rig. Buck Gardner once said if he had to choose between a call and a jerk rig, he'd pick the rig. That's huge comin from him. If you have kids, it's a great way to make them actually important and feel like they're contributing.

 Re: motion decoys
IMHO, Mallard machines are the best, especially if you are fighting ice. Unfortunately, they are cumbersome and a bit of a pain to set up. Higdon Pulsators are not quite as good, but much easier to set up and integrate into the spread to put motion everywhere. They aren't as durable as a MM either. I like the higdon swimmers too, but you have to place them carefully, so they don't tangle with other dekes.

 Re: motion decoys
jerk sting. some times run two of them. Have 3 pumpers that I made myself. Look good. going to try and make a swimmer. basically the same as hidgon has done. have some mojo's and if you can have a remote on them tha would be the best.

 Re: motion decoys
I'm done with motion decoys have been through countless mojos and now a rapid flyer. Fortunately you just take busted one to bass pro and they give you store credit no questions asked.
How many y'all rigging on a jerk. Think I have a rig em right and it will run 6 decoys? Heck half the time I only run 6 total in marsh ponds.

Seems like any time they get any water near them they're shot. You'd think they'd hold up. Hence "water"fowl...

 Re: motion decoys
Fuk a mojo won't use unless it's teal season an usually is only time it goes out. It's funny how many use them 2-3 at a time and wonder y they not killin shit. The birds catch on to this an start to flair. I use jerk an quiver butt works great
