^^^^^^^ Man, thats a nice one. Are they spawning down there or are they always that "fat"? Up here, they only look like that when they're spawning and full of eggs... Is that SNOW in the background of that pic, or just over exposed from the sunlight? LOL... |

No snow and they aren't full of eggs yet. Spawn should still be about three weeks or so out. We look for mainly over 50lb buffs, all four in that pic are over 50 |

Yeah man. That's what I'm talking about. In all the years I've bowfished in Michigan, I've only put 2 carp over 40# in my boat. Others that have been with me have shot and lost bigger ones. You guys are at a distinct advantage; the carp can grow year around in warmer climates. They don't do that up here. I think our state record is 63# and trust me, that's a real hog... LOL... |

And the carp ain't EVEN thinking of spawning here...That usually doesn't happen until late April - early May. LOL... And that's in the southern part of the state. The further North you go, the later the fish spawn, cuz it takes longer for the snow and ice to melt and the water to warm up. Usually Memorial day weekend before carp spawn in the northern lower peninsula and the U.P. |

. Now these are some good eating when cooked right. Don't fry them just smoke, crab boil, or blacken it. |
