Went to Cabelas the other day looking for a Bowfishing set up. I have been Bowfishing for a while now but I have never shot one myself. My Son is 17 and usually does all the shooting. He seems to rarely miss. Unfortunately my Son is so busy he rarely gets to go now. Got to Cabelas and waited two hours for a Salesman only to find I knew more than he did about the Bows. Finally ordered one from Backwater. Ordered a AMS Fish Hawk bow with the AMS Pro retriever, a case, two arrows, two AMS Safety Slides, I just told him to give me a good rest, and some sort of Light that recharges and is supposed to burn for 4 hours. Have I forgot anything, or made a bad choice? |

I've never shot the ams fish hawk but I've been using the retriever pro for years and like it. Sent from my iPhone using Smoke Signals |

Bow came in completely in Pieces. No arrow nock on the String, nothing put together like it should have been. I was disappointed. Since I knew nothing about Bowfishing I took it to a shop and paid them $25 to set it up for me. Took it out today and my first shot stuck a Gar. In all my Boy and I shot about 20 gar. Bow works good no complaints. |

Y'all are killing me. I'm trying to wait until the end of April to buy my bow set up. My wife is going to kill me if I spend more money this month on my outdoor hobbies. Lol All these post about bow fishing is making me want to get up and go get a set up right now. I can't wait to get started in bow fishing. |

Anyone try the Cajun Sucker Punch bow? They made the hybrid reel (or put their name on) that DDM has just purchased. |

It's a bear bow. Plenty of YouTube videos on it but I haven't seen one. What's up with Cajun archery being from the Midwest and not LA? |

Went on a second trip and I can see why the AMS Retriever is not perfect. Squeeze too hard and it is hard to reel and not enough does not bring in the string. Hard to hit a happy medium. Unusual trip. We went at night and it was a spur of the moment trip. Took a small LED spot light and my Bow is equipped with a Splashlight. Forgot all the Flashlights in the Truck. Gar were every where and we hit several. Seems Gar even though small were easy to hit. Saw a bunch of good sized Carp but missed all of them. I am sure they were deeper than we thought they were. Splashlight worked great. We got caught in a Thunder storm and had to come in early. |
