Thinking bout building either a light rail or a platform, just looking for ideas

Was thinking bout something like this

Def going with leds tho, like the idea of no generator

50w halo colored seelites 120v I run them with a Honda 2000 generator on top the poling platform right on side of my dewalt radio. You cant even hear it running over the engine. I love the lights and the generator, I wouldn't change anything about my setup. Screw batteries! You can run that generator 8-10 hours on a single gallon of gas and your lights are always 100%, plus never have to worry about charging batteries. Not to mention that it weighs less than 4 batteries.

6 50w halos on 12v. Ran over 4 hours the other night on 1 battery with out dimming. I have pics of my build in the hunting, fishing and bowfishing section.

Mudslut..... how heavy is your set up? I'm planing on going with the same set-up, just probably not quite as tall. And just curious how much do you have wrapped up in the set-up?

I've never have liked the rail deal or stuff sticking up above the side. I prefer a flat deck with rounded edges not to cut the line and nothing between me and what I'm shooting at. A deck just high enough to stuff whatever light you choose under it. That way you don't have anything for line to snag on and no cluttered up mess. Yes you can shoot fish from the bottom of the boat but you'll see more big fish farther from the boat with a little height and it makes a big difference if you want to shoot during the day.

Had to go to google to find it but here's where I built mine to begin with. 1"x1" tube would be plenty but I got the metal free so and the 1x2 lets you run the wire interally very easily... With the lights and all it's around 75 lbs. I can take it off and on by myself but due to the size much easier with two people. It sets on the front deck and is held in place by two turnbuckles from the grab bars to a D ring on the platform. I later ran a bolt through the back feet because it would walk back if you were running across choppy water.

My deck will be used more for flounder gigging since I moved back to Georgia. It worked great the first trip out.

Mudslut.... thanks. Hopefully I'll be able to pull the trigger and start ordering the stuff to build my set up soon

Any time. Just do like I did and order 3 or 4 lights then order the rest when u get the money. Just build your rail to hold the other lights you haven't bought yet.

That's definitely the most ghetto fabulous bowfishing setup I've ever seen.

That setup has been nothing but good to me.. Lots of good trips with it, and loading the wagon. I'm going to be upset when I get home and retire it to the led setup..

Msm8281- I like the tubing over my last pipe one only cause it was free tubing , but I'm a Jew so I'll be using whatever is free or cheaper on my next rail..

Notice the tubing makes you feel it when you smoke it with ya knee more than the pipe..

Post subject:  Re: Let's see some bowfish setups

I like tubing also. But like Chaz said mine was free.
