im not askin u guys to post ur honey holes or anything, i just really wanna take my boy on a duck hunt that we actually get something. i havent brought him b4, but i know him and if we dont kill anything hell get bored and aggravated and wont wanna go until he gets a lil older. i been makin him practice shooting a lot, so im pretty sure he can shoot one. im in laplace, so im close to a lot of places. if yall wouldnt mind pm'ing me any info yall can i would really appreciate it. ive duck hunted with a seasoned guy about 8 or so times so im far from a expert. im close to the spillway and maurepas and i know some guys hunt there, i just dont know what to look for when picking a spot. it is just me and my kid and not any1 else that would be going. also, if any of yall are close to me and wouldnt mind having a kid hunt, lemme know. again, any help appreciated.

Are you talking about regular season or the youth hunt weekend?

I hunt venice area, but for your kid i would try to set ya'll up on a good spot if I find where they will be at.
I know it is a long drive, but if it is anything like a few years ago, you and your son will be welcome to come with me. I would do almost anything for a youngster to get the chance to hunt and shoot, even if I never get to fire a shot. It is more fun to watch the dog work and the youngster shoot than for me to shoot.

anyways asswipes...i launched in da spillway sunday, hooked a right into the marsh/grassy area, drove around, and didnt see any. i was always told that when the clouds are low is when they fly low and its the best time. also, shouldnt i be looking for open semi medium to large size ponds and settin up a blind for ducks and for wood ducks just sittin next to a big cypress or something just along a waterway, waitin 4 them to fly by? oh, and i camo'd my nose ring so da ducks wont see it. mossy oak shadow grass

Look for ducks,where ever you see alot of ducks jump up slow down and watch them.If they return to the same place thats where they want to be.Keep looking find as many spots as you can,and look for larger groups of birds.Some of the best spots are not that big.Just because a spot looks ducky does not mean anything.You can pile 120 dekes in a pond if thats not where they want to be you will not do any good.
