Put 5 18w LEDs on the barge and semi permanently wired em up for test run. For what I do these booger juggers are the ticket. They're 10-30v so I ram 'em off 24v trolling batts. It was a negative low tonight so I poled about half of it and then ran the trolling motor once I had some h2o and everything held up just fine.

how many hours do you think you can run em for?

I ran the lights and trolling motor for 7 1/2 hrs so far w/o any problems. A lot of that trolling was in pretty good current at higher settings too. Just the lights will easily go all night.

^^^ I've been considering getting a 1000w Honda Ginny. Boats got an on board charger. I hate stressing batts out and can tell anyone who hasn't that just killing them ONE time forks em up for good.

One of my friends uses two of the little champion 2K inverters, you can't even really hear them from the deck. We had a pretty big group of people out one night and there were a few people sitting in the back almost directly underneath them and they were able to hold a normal conversation without having to yell or even really talk loud. Every now and then when the troller was wide open and both converters would get loaded up, you could hear them kick out of economy mode and throttle up for a second, but even then, they still quiet. He probably could have gotten away with a single honda 2k, but it would of been run at it's max all the time, the lil champions have an easy life, they run almost half their rated power all the time and just barely sip the gas. We maybe burned a half gallon to a gallon in each after fishing from probably 9:00 or so to about 4am. There was still fuel in the bottom of the little trash catcher that sits in the fill spout. He bought both champions for the price of one honda too.

You can always run without them too if you want, he gets probably 3 hours or so before the troller starts struggling, but it's 8 50w seelites and an 80lb troller on a 2054 cc rig.

Whoowheee! No bull scraping there. That's a lot of light! Honestly it may sound ridiculous to some folks but I used to ruin em with a single Coleman lantern in years past and other than the heat and screwing with the fuel in the boat it was a good way to get it done. Then again the "party barge" ain't my thing... But a small ginny would be good insurance found some real cheap online.

We used to ride around in a little 14 foot boat, one person up on that little 1ft step in the front with a bow, and another driving a lil 7.5hp johnson holding a 500,000 cp spotlight.  Ironically, this is the same people I just explained above, just 20 years down the road.

And we probably shot just as many fish back then, we def fished a lot more.

Post subject:  Re: New lights made a mess

Know just what you mean! Times were simpler then... Tons of fish and pickups didn't cost a fortune and if it only got 8 miles a gallon who cared cause gas was less than $1 :D  Damn I miss them days but don't also! No worries back then
