a good day at the office
Got a 2 fish limit of pike 27 & 32". Took a while to find what depth they were hanging but once I did action was fast. Had a 45 minute window where I put 7 fish in the boat. Caught at least 15. Had 2 big girls swing and miss broadside. Biggest was 34 smallest was 24". Only one muskie follow but she turned boat side and went back into the weeds.

Re: a good day at the office
Thanks, I've been gettin on em pretty good lately. The last 3 trips out to this lake I've gotten a 34, 32, 31, 29, 2-27's and a bunch in the 22-24 range. Not too bad for high pressured water but I've only got 1 muskie this yea. Throwing 3-4 oz baits 9-12" LG and I still come up with pike. I love eating pike so its always a bonus to catch legal fish since the size limit is 26" in the southern half of the state. I usually release the ones over 30 cuz theyre fun to catch and its good to protect the bigger fish but I was feeling extra hungry today.

Re: a good day at the office
Those toofy critters look like fun! We have Chain Pickerel (gotta be a 1st cousin to those) down here that are super aggressive and a decent fight, but they only get about 24" long. These have pretty white meat but are boney as hell. Nice fish!

Re: a good day at the office
yea they are a little boney - I used to be real good at cleaning then getting most of the bones out - now I just cut the meat into squares wrap in tin foil with a little lemon pepper, butter and onion then grill and eat the flakes of meat

Re: a good day at the office
We have real muskies in these lakes. We dont really stock too many tigers here maybe on some smaller lakes where the panfish are stunted. In the northwoods the dnr put an 18" size limit on bass with a bag limit of 1 fish and its really affecting the other predator fish pike and musky fishing has go down hill as a result. Too bad the indians dont spear bass instead of walleye and muskies
They are boney but my uncle taught me how to fillet them years ago to get them bone free. I like em just as much as walleye. Pike are easier to come by in the lakes around my house than eyes.
I was going to head out again today but with bluebird skies and high pressure the fish will be deep and less active. The storm front had em put the feed bag on pretty good.

Re: a good day at the office
Yea I've done some trolling out there it has a strong Cisco forage base and large expanses of 50-60+ ft of water deepest area is 90' if I go ill try later in the day supposed to be 82 here and with clear water they are going to be plenty deep. Cold front is coming so we will get back in the 60 s and 70s

Re: a good day at the office
Yea things still grow down by you in winter. I rather have the cold than the heat any day. You can put more layers on to keep warm but when its hot there's only so much you can take off to keep cool. When it gets over 85 I sit in thr shade and drink beer ain't nothin gettin done
