What's swimming around in your lake?
While I'm offshore, my dad sends me reports of his fishing excursions. Today's report was about running trammel nets to catch alligator and crab bait. This is a freshwater lake that is very popular for bass, cat, and perch fishing, as well as crawfishing.
I copied his report, thought y'all would find it interesting:
I put 3 nets out in ********. Ran them this morning and had 6 bull sharks, 4 were 4 1/2 to 5ft and the other 2 were about 3 1/2 ft. I lost count of the sting rays, 3 or 4 big sheep head. Was trying to get silvers to use for gator bait but only caught 5. Did get enough buffalo for a little more than 600 pcs. of bait.

Exact reason I won't swim in the spillway.

Next month you could go down to the wax and sink the boat with sharks if you know what you are doing. I'll try to find the video I have from a couple years ago of 5-6 swimming around the boat at the main delta

Don't have to worry about that shit up here. (Not yet) someone shot a gator in the milwaukee river and the sharks are starting their way up the Mississippi I hear.

Went gigging....heard stories but never had issues with sharks.
Had 2 flounder bit in half. Not babies either! Approx 10" across! Shark had to be around 5'! This was in less than knee deep water!!!
Makes your mind fuck with you when you have to walk back in waste deep back to the boat! Haha

I believe it. I've seen sharks feeding in water so shallow not only were the fins showing, occassionally the backs would show. One day I watched two relatively large sharks (5-7')feed like this for more than 20 minutes on the big flats at the southern end of catfish pass.
Have caught redfish, stingrays, flounder, sheepshead, and sharks all in the same net at the mouth of bear bayou in the fall.

Shoot. Come jump in the surf and go trout fishing in the summer.
Sucks when you have a stringer good fish and come up to the beach with nothing but heads on the stringer and you didnt feel a thing!!!
Pucker factor is way up there.

Yep one of the last times I went fishing bear bayou last year late summer got hung up on a tree. Pulled up to get unstuck and saw a big sheepshead sitting at the base of a cypress tree. And last teal season we were redfishing in the river on the main delta had sharks swimming by the boat all afternoon.
