I'm a proud big brother today.
This time tomorrow, my 13 year old brother will hold the ms state record for largest rainbow trout. The trout were stocked in a lake that is fed by an underground spring and the center of the lake stays < 65 degrees all year. This allows a certain percentage of the trout to survive year round. The man that owns the lake guessed that this trout had been stocked in one of the very first batches over 3 years ago. The unofficial weight (5.27) has the fish at a full 2 lbs heavier than the current record.

Spinnin.. I tried to get him to use one of my 5 wt setups but he was getting frustrated with it so i told him to switch back to conventional stuff. I'm glad he did.

Nothing wrong with that.. I find that it is easier to teach beginners on streams, and rivers, rather than lakes, and ponds.. Hell of a fish that's for sure.

Re: I'm a proud big brother today.
Official weight: 5.03lbs, length: 21.7" . He will be in the record books by February 1st at the latest. All weights and measurements done by mdwfp, so the record is official. Old record was 3.1 lbs and I'm not sure on the length.
