I bought a bigger gun to try and decrease the chances of that happening. If you call the game warden he will escort you to retrieve it. I shot a deer on my old hunting lease that ran to Kistachi National Forrest. I was not about to get put in jail over that shit. I called the W&F and they sent a Warden over. He was a very nice fellow. He checked my identification and asked to see where I shot it. He saw the blood trail, we walked over and found it. He even helped me drag it out. It ended up only being a few yards into the area. |

We hunt bow hunting only public land its surrounded by a private ranch they don't like us to much we could have jumped the fence and went looked for it but we did the right thing and ask for permission cuz aint know deer worth getting a trespassing ticket |

Ducks and especially deer will make folks act ignorant. Had your buddy been a good neighbor? Still, No reason for the landowner to be a dick. ! |

In Minnesota, you don't have to ask permission but you do have to leave if they tell you to (taken from the MN hunting regs): "A person on foot may, without permission, enter land that is not posted to retrieve a wounded animal that was lawfully shot, but may not remain on the land after being told to leave. A person on foot may, without permission, enter private land without a firearm to retrieve a hunting dog. After retrieving the dog, the person must immediately leave the premises. This exception does not authorize the taking of the wild animal" But I know you guys down south have some bizarre property laws (like being able to own water), which I always find as weird. |
