NOAA said 5-10 out of the SE which had me fired up to go find some tarpon at the Cape. NOAA is a bunch of clowns, though, and it blew like a sack of queers all day. So we had to fish the backcountry because the Cape was rough as could be. It worked out well. Found some great new snook and redfish spots. And we had over 20 tarpon eat, and hooked 13. We were breaking off the bigger ones so we didn't have to fight them for a long time, and stuck to 40-70lb fish that we could whoop in a hurry. Since the lure I'm throwing is over 2oz, I'm using a Terez Waxwing 8' 30-65lb rod paired up with a 6000 Stella SW, it was perfect for what we are doing. My buddy Ross also picked off a big black drum on an artificial, which is not an easy thing to do. On the way back home through Lake Ingraham, we saw one of the bigger crocs I've seen since our 2010 freeze. He never moved despite us being within about 20 feet of him. A few pictures: |

I love it when people at work correct me and tell me that "we don't have crocodiles here; you probably saw an alligator!" I have a photo of a little 3 1/2' one in my boat's cockpit. He chomped down on a jerkbait and wouldn't turn loose. Didn't hook him, he just came to the boat as I reeled him right onto the back deck. |

Awesome pics T. I'd stay with that story, " yep never hooked the croc...he was just nursing on my hook" lol |

I swear to God on a stack of bibles. Goofy little lizard wouldn't turn loose and I was afraid to pull too hard and actually hook him. |
