I have eyed this gun for the last two seasons and look like a great buy for an entry level semiauto. Any field reviews? I have a five year old 3901 Citizen that has been solid and I need a companion semiauto. |

Bought mine in Nov 2012. No complaints here. Shoulders really well for me with the extra 1" spacer. |

Thanks. We get a mess of rain, but I don't hunt the salt, I can do without the camo's xtra 100$ cost. Just can't justify the twice the price A400. 3" shells are plenty for black jacks, teal, woodies, and mottleds. |

My younger brother bought one this past fall, I shot it a few times and was impressed with it... He does alot of upland bird hunting and like it really well. |

I never shoot 3.5" shells but I absolutely love the A400. It is a great gun. I have only handled the gun in question but I am a huge Beretta fan and it looks to me to be a nice gun. I see no reason that it cannot do everything you would need as a waterfowler. |

This shotgun worked like a champ!!! I bought it last year after returning from North Dakota on a pheasant. I was a little upset with a few things and had been wanting a Beretta for a while and decided to go ahead and get one. As I said above it worked like no other semi-auto shotgun I have ever shot and since it is a gas operated gun very little kick and through in the Kent fast lead number 4s it was nothing but a winning combination!!! ___________________________________ |

Has anyone ever their outlander not cycle? Mine is firing, ejecting the spent shell, then the bolt gets stuck halfway as its loading the second round. I've been through the gun in and out. it almost seems like the loading tray is stopping it. Any input? |

If you have cleaned the receiver and bolt assembly thoroughly and it is still a problem, a likely culprit is the recoil spring in the stock. It is often neglected, and vital to the operation of the gun. Make sure it is clean and free of obstruction, and also make sure that it hasn't become compressed if you have shot it a lot. |

The a300 comes with two gas Pistons that interchange for light and heavy loads. If the piston for heavy is installed light loads will not cycle and do exactly what your talking about! |

It's not difficult to figure out if you at least have the mechanical aptitude of a 4th grader. Pretty self explanatory. You'll need a long ratchet extension to reach the nut that holds the stock on. And pay attention to the orientation of the shim that goes between the stock and receiver when you take it off. Just make sure the spring is in good shape, and there is no fouling or corrosion inhibiting free movement. Once again, it can get compressed over time and cause the symptoms you are seeing. But that is after many thousands of rounds. It's very cheap to replace. |

When you free it remember it is a SPRING and will probably want to fly across the room, or into your face, so be careful. Seems odd that it would be the spring but it definitely is a possibility and cheap to replace so worth a check. The spring that is in the magazine tube is another possibility for causing issues and that should be able to be removed and cleaned as well. Do you see any wear marks on any of the parts and pieces? |

I have not checked for the outlander but for all their other guns Beretta has a step-by-step breakdown on YouTube for each component. |

One thing to make sure of is that you don't set the gun stock down in water being that the spring goes down into the stock. Mine got wet when wading across a pond and I hit a deep hole. Took it all apart. Carefully cleaned the spring and spring compartment and wiped a light coat of oil on the spring and in the compartment. I wasn't having and cycling issues but I wanted to make sure the spring didn't start to rust or anything after getting wet |

Once dropped mine in a muddy pond, fished it out and it cycled perfectly for the rest of the day. Got home, cleaned it, and never had a problem. |

Did you break it in with a 3" magnum load? I would look into a sure cycle also, put one in my 390 after the factory spring rusted up. Never had issues after that |
