 Dam B, Texas duck hunting
Hey guys, first off I want to say I am new to mud motors and love the site. It help me out a lot before I order my first rig ( which should be ready in about two more weeks, gonna be the longest two week wait ever lol ). Now to my question do any of y'all have some good experience duck hunting Dam B, if so how good is the early teal seasons usually? And big duck season is it kinda hit/miss or if you know the spots can do pretty good all year? Thanks

I'll start it off, there is birds to be shot, as anywhere. No one is going to give you there honey holes, but do you homework and you can have success. It can get crowded so don't leave late expecting to go to your first choice, chances are someone will already be there. Good luck

The more you talk about hunting areas on the internet, the more crowded they are going to be...especially when you say they aren't as crowded as other nearby areas...Use your heads people.

Scout it yourself , that lake is some of these guys home lake. Most don't want it name dropped all over the internet. Or any other lake . And no I have never hunted there . Now , most of central , east Texas lakes , the teal show up right at the opener . Usually won't see any till the day or so before.

Re: Dam B, Texas duck hunting
I consider that lake and adjacent rivers my home water.... I'll say this, and I don't believe it to be isolated to this lake but many smaller bodies of water in this part of the country... The birds do not stay here. One day you're covered up, the next day, you can't freaking buy a bird. Sitting in the same place, same weather, same everything.... I am a firm believer that what we enjoy (mudmotors) are a definite contributor to this. Used to, the birds could get way back in the woods, roost, feed, stay a while. They had shelter, food and they were far enough away from everyone they didn't feel much pressure. Nowadays, everyone's got a mud motor of some sort. It's becoming necessary to get around on the lake with the vegetation issue. A lot of guys (myself included) go there and ride, and find new water, see things they couldn't get to with an outboard and too far to paddle/pole. Some guys call "scouting" hauling ass thru the woods and jumping every bird they can get close to. This has taken away the territory those birds once had that was secluded... Again, why they don't stay long. I could go on. However, the short of it is there are birds there to be hunted most of the season if you can find them and put in the work to hunt them hard. This is much more than just riding around in a mud boat, looking at ducks. Bottom line is, enjoy your boat, by all means, enjoy the places it can take you and the things that you can now do that you couldn't before. It's really fun, no doubt. But please use it responsibly on that body of water leave as minimal of a mark as you possibly can. Im up there regularly. Holler when you get that new boat in, Id sure like to check it out. Also, I have coordinates to the rest of Huck Finn's spots that he didn't send to swampbilly.... If you'd like them, just PM me.
