....And so did the freezer. Filled our tags and got some meat. Had a ton of 'yotes all over us so we scrambled to get them gutted and out of there as fast as we could. Dragged em probably a quarter mile back to the truck to load them (well two of them, one we could get within 100 yds with the truck). It was a spectacle, figured y'all would like it. One hell of a tenderloin |

Aside from axis deer, elk is my favorite game meat to eat.. And that is one hell of a backstrap (x6).. How do you like those outdoor edge knives? I've been thinking about buying one but I'm just not sold on how the interchangeable razors hold up. |

The blades hold up decent. They're not as sturdy as a normal blade, the big plus is you don't have to shut down and sharpen, just pop a new blade in and go. I'm a fan, just don't forget the blades like my buddy! |

Got one for a friend after I saw them on meat eater or whatever the name of that show is where the guy cooks in the field whatever he kills. I don't know how much he's used it, but I has to get one after I saw the one I ordered him. The blades aren't gonna win any strength contests, but they do the job, and are easy to swap out and not expensive. Was a good purchase for sure compared to my old routine of sharpening. |

Thanks guys, it was a fun hunt. Anybody ever smoked it? I know it's lean but I've never tried smoking a roast or anything. |

Great Job man! In and out in a hurry! Y'all were lucky only yotes came to check it out. Them big brown jokers with the hump on their back make shit interesting. Bet you were wishing for some snow to slide them to the truck on.... I wouldn't recommend smoking a roast. If you do try to keep it from drying out. |

Man we were wishing we had a damn helicopter to get those bastards out. Crashing through sagebrush and shit just trying to keep it moving. And we didn't see any bear sign, but we did see an alarming amount of cat sign. Made settling in for the evening hunts really uncomfortable. Yeah I didn't have high hopes for smoking it. This is just the first time I've had ready access to a smoker and was curious. |

Keep a bowl of water in there, and drape it in bacon, or keep the external moist with a mix of mustard and soy sauce or something. Can use brown sugar and a little Italian dressing, etc. Just make a liquid paste. Just keeping olive oil on it would be OK too. Marinating it overnight would help. Quite a few different ways to handle it, without hurting the flavor. |

Cats give me the heebie jeebies. Lived around them for 15 years and only ever laid eyes on one once and that was waaaaaayyyy the hell away and for a split second. And we got these about 20 miles out of Casper, WY. |

We've had a lot of coyote problems, so I killed a 250 boar out at my lease last year and dragged its carcass out on a long straight road through our property. Me and a buddy set up 100 yards downwind of it two days later with the e-caller at 50 yards. Right at sunset I finally hit the e-caller and let out some coyote yips and a panther immediately growled or snarled 50 or so yards behind us in the woods. We were downwind of the hog and he was downwind of us. Walked out backwards for a while after dark. |

That's a heck of a lot of meat! I've always wanted to go on an elk hunt! And I've only seen one panther a few years back and it was while we were riding four wheelers. Worst part was I was fairly close to my house just a few miles outside of Pineville. Never saw it again but I always have sort of an erie feeling walking through those woods before daylight. |

I agree with that Heebie Jeebie part on the Cats. I worked for Hell's A Roarin Outfitters in Gardiner Montana for Five years and I only had one cat sighting. Still makes the hair stand up on my neck, and to think all the ones I didn't see. www.hellsaroarinoutfitters.com/ Look these guys up. They have a great outfit. |
