 A lil jewelry this morning

It doesn't get any better than when your dog comes out of the marsh with a bird with a band.

How the hell are you guys shooting mallards already? We don't have very many yet
It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

Re: A lil jewelry this morning
Ohhhhhhh so you've been shooting the park mallards We've had very little migration in the central flyway so far The geese are okay but the duck finding has been very hit and miss. Which is the opposite of last year. We've had really warm weather and it hasn't gotten cold north of us yet It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

My slough has mallards now. They started showing up a few days ago. Nice hearing them call in the morning when I get off work.

Re: A lil jewelry this morning
Just a little info off of these birds.
The mallard drake was banded on 9/12/13 in Dodge County, Wisconsin.
The wood duck drake was banded on 8/27/14 in Cottonwood County, Minnesota.
The wood duck hen was banded on 7/2/14 in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. Which is where I killed it.
Would have never believed I would kill 3 the first week of season! I'm very proud of them.

Re: A lil jewelry this morning
Is one guy banding them, then letting them go and you shoot them?
That's crazy man. 3 in a couple days? Awesome. How many have you gotten in previous seasons?

Re: A lil jewelry this morning
We used to band them when I worked at the catahoula nwr. Was an interesting experience, for sure. Even after all those we banded and me hunting 22 years less than 3 miles from that location, the only woodie I've ever killed with a band was done 10 miles SW of waverly, tn.

Re: A lil jewelry this morning
Brandon got a hook up on where they band the ducks at! Lol it's crazy how that happens like that. Friend of mine I met through college fishing up in OK killed 2 banded mallards out Of one flock. I'm still working on trying to get me a banded drake! Congrats!

Awesome hunt off the Illinois River. The drake was at least 6 years old and banded in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Okay. I live near Eville. I went to IVCC in Lasalle Peru and hunted the Illinois from Starved Rock down. I hunt the Wabash around Mt. Carmel.
