Simmer a stick of butter, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic for about ten minutes. Baste your steak with that and re-season after flipping!!

Kibb although I'm partial to seasoning I'm going to concour with Tootall on this topic. I'm trying to lower my salt intake.

Re: N Flats duck calling etiquette
You know I've never been a fan of those prepackaged steak seasonings but that Saltgrass 7 seasoning stuff isn't bad. It's a little salty like the rest of them but it has a good subtle flavor and can be used sparingly.
But I agree also, hard to beat a good cooked steak without a damn thing on it!

Re: N Flats duck calling etiquette
I've never seen someone constantly bitch about hunting on public land. It's part of it. People will always do something to piss someone else off. Either deal with it or go get yourself some private land. Also people might respect you more if you weren't such a dick. You are worse than a damn 4 year old in day care. So tired of seeing this forum littered with your whiny ass complaints.

If you are trying to gain respect you should try a different way. Also it sounds like your attempts to make public land hunting better are not working either.

Y'all tries cavendar's Greek seasoning? Its made in northern Arkansas and adds excellent flavor to steam among other food. Give it a try.

Re: N Flats duck calling etiquette
I don't know y'all, Beechwood in Vicksburg has got a pretty damn good steak seasoning but I have no idea what it is. But I do like salt grass steaks. One of the few chain restaurants I'll order a steak at. Haven't tried Cavenders yet. Most of the time a little sea salt and peppercorn and sometimes a few shakes of Montreal seasoning over as high of heat as I can get the grill/cast iron. I'll have to try the salt grass season. But who are we kidding we just need Doe's eat place's seasoning! Nothing better.

Whatever spices you like to use olive oil is the best carrier. The extra light is best IMO bc it can take a higher heat without burning and puts a perfect sear on the outside of the steak. Always remember that with a good sear you can cook them as done as a leather shoe and still have a juicy delicious steak for the faint of heart. I prefer med Rare myself.

Re: N Flats duck calling etiquette
I use dales steak marinade(low sodium). Just enough to coat all surfaces of the steak. Then use chef paul prudhomme's meat magic and just a dash of cavendars. Best steak I've ever eaten anywhere in my life. There's a fine balance between all 3 ingredients. Too much and it's salty. Just the right amount = best steak ever
It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

Re: N Flats duck calling etiquette
The marinade is used as seasoning. It doesn't soak. What kind of blasphemy did u think I was speaking I like it. That's what matters. I'm not a fan of pan searing steaks first. To me the best way to cook a steak is on a wood fire. It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

Who said anything about pan searing?
Anybody not cooking a steak over direct heat....whether it's gas, wood or charcoal.....is doing themselves and the steak a disservice.

Y'all haven't lived until you've cooked a steak directly on lump charcoal. No grate, no foil, just meat on fire. It will blow your taste buds away.

Every once and awhile I start feeling a little frisky and I will inject the stakes with spicy creole butter. Followed by some Montreal spicy steak seasoning olive oil and a dash of soy
