The only call I seem to get right is a teal call. For the rest of my calls, I think I scare away more than I get to land. ![]() |

I have used a little Faulks call , but for the most part i've been using a Haydel's Compensator Spec call for the past two seasons. I'm just trying to figure out what i'm doing wrong. I've used just a few full bodies up to 5 dozen shells/fulls. Tried different setups.... just don't have it figured out. |

chien callie for sure, its harder to make it break over but if you master that can you work any specks you want, its all about how you hold you hand to get started and there is no need for 5 dozen speck decoys 6-8 decoys is all you need to work specks ,get a haverster pack of ghg feds and be done with it. They are the best speck decoy on the market IMO And speck calling you just mimic the other bird they cluck you cluck the cluck cluck you cluck cluck. then from there you can learn a few more tricks but thats all you need to kill specks |

I hunt a lot of specs over here. I use a J.J. Lares Spec call. http://jjlares.com/goose.htm The best way I can explain it is first you must hold the call properly. And must use both hands to get the right back pressure. http://www.shortreedgoosecalls.com/blowgoosecall You want to blow the spec call like a short reed honker call. And use the double cluck method. And practice like hell. When I set up the decoys you have all the same patterns like normal depending on the wind and location. But I found here later in the season the specs mix a lot with the snows so I will always put some snow decks in with the spec decoys as a confidence decoy. They have figured out that the snows are smart on decoying and use that to their ability. That is in my area I am not sure about yours but just scout and look how they are acting naturally. |

Got a 1/2 doz GHG fulls. They are some good lookin deeks, and usually that's all i put out. I get it to break over fine and just repeat whatever they call back. Just after being passed over over and over and over and over and over ( you get the picture) I tried 5 doz. Still didn't work... Must be something in the water lol |
