I was planning on making a trip to LA to hunt in the comming weekends from TX.

On the LA DWF website it has a list of requirements. I'm assuming it means that you must have 1 of the 5 line items to hunt ducks?

Non-resident:
1) Non-resident Hunting Season - $150 AND Non=Resident LA Duck - $25
2) Non-resident Small Game/MigBird 1-day - $29
3) LA Lifetime License that includes Hunting
4) LA Native NR Hunt (5-day) - $15 and NR LA Native Duck - $5.50
5) Res/NR Military Hunt - $15 and Res/NR Military Duck - $5.50

With that said - I would be OK with buying a 1 day Migratory Game bird pass to hunt each day? I plan to make two Saturday hunts.

Presume you already have your Fed stamp, so going to need your La duck stamp, small game/migratory bird 1-day x 2, and don't forget your H.I.P. cert (free, but you gotta get it).

I have my federal duck stamp. I re-visted the website. It doesn't sound like I need the LA duck stamp if i buy the one day pass. Is that correct? It says that I need to have "one of the following"

Non-resident:
1) Non-resident Hunting Season - $150 AND Non=Resident LA Duck - $25
2) Non-resident Small Game/MigBird 1-day - $29
3) LA Lifetime License that includes Hunting
4) LA Native NR Hunt (5-day) - $15 and NR LA Native Duck - $5.50
5) Res/NR Military Hunt - $15 and Res/NR Military Duck - $5.50

That's how the website reads, but not how I understand the regs, but I'm no authority and didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express lately. :)

I have to buy my state hunting license, state stamp, federal stamp and HIP, so I don't think they're going to let an OOS'er slide by for less; maybe I'm wrong. Only recent reference I have is buying an OOS license for AR and I had to buy the state stamp, state hunting and get the HIP cert.

La. State government is too greedy and I don't see them missing a chance to get in our wallets. $25 is going to be less than the ticket if you get checked. Somebody will chime in and confirm one way or the other..

Fairly positive all states require you to purchase the duck stamp if you're hunting migratory birds. One day, ten days, full season, doesn't matter.

#2 covers your bases....as long as you already have your fed stamp and HIP.

That's right. Called about it a few weeks ago cause I wanted to be sure. The $29 daily license is everything you need besides fed stamp and HIP.

I used #4 on a very frequent basis when I lived in MS.

All you need is #2 fed stamp and hip. No stamp necessary with that license it's included. I've double checked and that's what I've been told on numerous occasions.

I suddenly feel like a cheap ass even worrying about a $5.50 state duck stamp. It was just the principle.
