Post subject:  Bow Fishing - The equipment works

Got two bow fishing trips completed. Not having much luck yet. The water in the White River is flooded, dirty, and covered in pollen.

I have not seen much gar activity, and when I do, it is for a split second. We did shoot a few turtles though.

I am surprised we have not seen any carp in the shallows yet. Perhaps the water is to cool.

Kind of funny how in all my years of bass fishing, I always had a disdain for all the carp and gar. Now that I want to shoot them, they are scarce.

I am pretty happy with how the lights work. Got them running off a small Wen inverter generator. It is pretty quiet and hardly uses much gas. Right now I am running with the trolling motor. Once it gets good, I may have to either get a second battery, or rig another electric line and run the charger simultaneously.

Very nice looking set up. AWESOME looks like a lot of fun. I am hoping I get my gator tag this year, I am going to start scouting just in case.

Have you forgot to push the button on your reel yet?

I have not forgot to push the button on the reel yet, but did wind up the line in the trolling motor once.

What I do with the trolling motor is pull it up to its highest position and ride that way when on the trailer or when running the mud motor. Once I get to where I will fish, I just unscrew, drop down to the depth I want, and run. The trolling motor shaft sticks up a bit high, but so far it works.

You should start having carp run into the shallows soon. You're both of me a little bit and this past week we've had a pretty heavy shift in fish moving from the main river to the back waters. Carp were thick today, and bass have been moving into the shallows as well.

I used ten Wosen 50W LED Flood Light, Waterproof IP66, 4000lm, 5000K Daylight White, Super Bright Outdoor LED Flood Lights

I have yellow film over the lights and power with a Wen 2000 inverter generator.

Everything I read said that the LED white light has to much of a tendency to reflect off the top of water, especially in tinted or muddier water. They say the yellow light penetrates more down into the water

It is pretty muddy where I am.
