 Did some more TSS patterning.......
Thought some of you guys might be interested in this. The weather was about the worst to pattern in with swirling winds 20-30mph, but I figure I hunt in windy West Texas. So, I might as well pattern in it. Benelli, M1 20ga with a 26" SUPER CLEAN barrel. I used a bore snake between each shot. Load was 1oz of TSS #9 and 7/16oz #8. First shot was thru a Carlson or Cabela's Super Full choke (.575 constriction) at 40 yards by rangefinder. 212 hits in a 10" circle Second shot was thru a HS Strut Undertaker choke (.582 constriction) at 40 yard by a rangefinder. 271 hits in a 10" circle. I wouldn't suggest these loads thru a 20ga for a kiddo. They are pretty sharp on kick compared to the 12ga loads I posted about the patterns last week. However, it looks like the 12ga will sit in the safe for turkeys and only come out as a back up!

Re: Did some more TSS patterning.......
Wish this stuff wasn't so expensive. Looks deadly for geese.
We did some testing of 1 1/4oz TSS #5 and #7 12ga 2 3/4" loads. These were shot thru an SBE with a factory mod choke.
125 pellets in a 30" circle with #5's at 40 yards:
119 pellets in a 30" circle with #5's at 50 yards:
107 pellets in a 30" circle with #5's at 60 yards:
220 pellets in a 30" circle with #7's at 40 yards:
For patterning percentages, there were only 125 pellets in the #5 load to start with. 40 yard pattern was 100% 50 yard pattern was 95% 60 yard pattern was 85%
235 pellets in the #7 load. 40 yard pattern was 94%

Re: Did some more TSS patterning.......
been seeing a chit load of birds, mostly hens & jakes. located a real nice gobbler last sat. evening thats been roosting in some big trees about 20 yds behind one of my plots. set up on him sunday a.m. with a few decoys in the plot. with some light slate churps we had a hen come to the plot, but the tom never budged! sat on 'em for a couple of hours but, had to cut the hunt short on account of easter church services. the toms on our placed have been locked up and totally non-vocal! probably gonna shoot up there dis sat. afternoon to make a sun. a.m. hunt. good luck

Simple box call would be best.
