 bowfishing lights??
Anybody have any suggestions on running lights while bowfishing. Dont want to front the money for a honda generator and dont want to use one thats so loud you cant talk over it. So im wondering if i can use an inverter or something and if so how much run time would i get. Any suggestions?

 Re: bowfishing lights??
if you want alot of light but dont want to pull alot of watts go with these http://www.e-conolight.com/floods/small ... h151z.htmlim redoing my rig and im going with 6 of these, they have the ballast and caps already built in! 6 will put out 90000 lumens. wich is 4 times as much light as i was running before ( 6 x 300watt halos ) you can also run a 55w Iota Converter to run a 55w trolling motor, and you can run all of the mentioned above with a EU2000 honda geny! ( there are cheaper geny's that are comprable, Kipor, Champion) if you do the 6x 150w HPS's i think it will put you at 1000w. ( i might be wrong) they are a lil expensive, but well worth it in the end. If you are fishing muddy water the HPS's are better than halos, halo's are better in clear water. hope this helps there's a ton of info on this at http://bow.fishingcountry.com/bfcforums ... y.php?f=21

I'm wanting to do a 12V system right now I have 4 100W 12V bulbs that I have wired up. I gig for flounder during summer and figured this would be a good setup. Always carry the underwater personal lights so people can jump out and walk a flat if they want to.

 Re: bowfishing lights??
I've bowfished over those HPS lights before... I was impressed. the ones we were using were much bigger than 150 watts... I'd like to see how well the smaller ones get the job done in muddy water. that's pretty affordable.

 Re: bowfishing lights??
we run 10 of those 150's on da airboat. econolight makes that light with a capacitor built in (I just bought 4 more of em) and they help keep the amps down. I just have a little honda 2000 generator and it only puts out 13.3 amps. I can run 8 of those lights if I wanted to and still not be running the genny too hard. But on my 16' boat 6 will be enough.

 Re: bowfishing lights??
its about weight too
the 150HPS's weigh 10 lbs at 15000 lumens
the 400HPS's weigh 32.5 lbs at 48000 lumens
and from what i read the weight/lumen ratio dont even mess with the 250 hps's
Im really thinkin about having a lil MMT bowfishing gathering at Sam Rayburn here in August, so if any of ya'll are interested let me know

 Re: bowfishing lights??
I've got a little 1000w Honda. I can run 5 150w HPS lights & I use the 12v dc output to give a trickle charge back into my battery.
I tried to run my trolling motor direct from the 12v posts, but it tripped the breaker at the higher speeds. Goin thru my battery, I've had no problem. But I've found I run the mud motor most of the time anyway.
I really like my set up. The small gen is great for my skiff-light & quiet.
