 just a thought I had.
So I was training my do yesterday then gave him a bath with the hose, And he is scared to death and hates the hose, but I had the thought. U always hear about what great trainers can do with great bloodline dogs but u never hear about people like me. Average people with not alot of experience doing pretty good with far from best dogs. I paid $20 for my dog from the pound. He is pure and 11 months old and like I said hates the hose but with a few stay commands this is him...... who else has good dogs without the 300 dollar bloodline?

My pit hates water hoses, water bottles spray bottles, basically anything that water comes out with a little pressure. Get that sucker near a lake, river or pond and he will go nuts.

Re: just a thought I had.
I grew up with labs my whole life, and my dad always bought reg. dogs. My last dog was free. The best dog I've had yet. He looks to be pure lab, no papers, but he retrieves, listens very well, and does great inside. My wife wanted to adopt a dog and at first I was skeptical, but turned out great. We didnt have him through the puppy stage so It was kind of nice not having to train another dog and go through the chewing stage.

Re: just a thought I had.
I have a H.R.C titled dog it was bough in a pet store and given to me at a year and a half because it was to much to handle. One of the best dogs I have ever worked. I realy wish it was papered and not fixed this blood line is a winner or I got very lucky. I really think most dogs can be good "meat" dogs if you put the time to train them in.

Re: just a thought I had.
i dont think bloodline is as valuable as most seem to think.. A few hundred for a registered dog is one thing but ive had a few friends pay over $1k for a bloodline, not put in the time and the dog dont hunt.. i look at it like this, the best electrician you know has 2 sons, one becomes an even better electrician than his father while the other son becomes a professional fu(k-up. if you pay due diligence and put in the time, you could have a good retriever.
