Post TPLO
Just got the dog back from orthopedic doc. She tore her ACL and meniscus. They did a TPLO on her. Long recovery ahead but she is doing great so far.

Seems to be doing great. Still has a week and a half of confinement and leash control when outside. Then she gets an X-ray to clear her for normal activity and rehab.
But so far as I can tell I don't think she will have any deficit and will be at 100% on that leg. It's pretty impressive so far

Sorry to hear that man, It's a long long road to go down. My girl had both of hers done at 2 1/2yrs old.

Thanks Schmitt, yeah its a long road. and this weather is driving her crazy to get out and hunt. cool crisp fall air stirs her up lol. I'm praying she wont need the other one done but I know statistically its not in her favor. So far its not giving her any trouble and I will most likely keep her home this season unless I make a couple really easy hunts at end of year.

Well, Tuesday we made our 8 week mark on the surgical leg and all seems good so far. However, Wed. while taking her out to use bathroom on a leash she made about 3 steps toward house when she finished and came up lame on other leg. Took her for an exam and yep......blown acl on the other leg now. Surgery to follow after thanksgiving.

hope we get a break soon, this year is killing me.

Yeah i'm pretty down about it but trying to stay positive. I figured we'd have to do other leg eventually but not so soon i had hoped. At least we got past the 8wks on the one leg and i'm thankful it didnt happen on a retrieve somewhere where she would have gotten in trouble trying to swim.

Second TPLO is now complete, we start the 8wks of healing all over again. But she did well in surgery and is do well so far just a few days out. Fingers crossed that all will be healed by February and we can start some physical activity to rehab her back to normal activity.
