IMAG0130.jpg this dog will never win any competitions, get ribbons,etc.. she will break like an excited crackhead. she loves all the same shtuff i do.specially bein in the boat. the only "training" she has is not to shit or piss in the house. everything else is purely natural. a lil story....some would call it cruelty but she was happy doin it. she cut her paw pretty bad on an oyster shell. tried to keep it bandaged but she wanted to chew it off. the day after the cut,was going to venice to hunt, leaving the crippled dog home. getting groc.for the lil trip at the store, realized i forgot my wallet, hunt lic.etc. when i got back home, the lil bitch, layin on the sofa, looked at me wit the saddest eyes you ever seen, maybe even had tears, idk. when i said"you wanna go girl" she popped her head up and flew to the door on three legs. got a ziploc full o dog food and another ziploc full o spray wound cleaner,neosporin,gauze,tape,etc.. to venice we go. the tide was real low in the daytime so we didnt do as good as we normally do but..... that lil bitch went get every duck we shot on three legs! she aint pointing in the pic.,thats her hurt foot ![]() |

Its a boykin spaniel. Look like a chocolate cocker spaniel on a steroids. I been wanting one for a few years now, and now that quite a few people are starting to get them, I want one even more! |

Ya'll are dead right about boykins! They have more go than any other retriever I have ever been around! I know for a fact that I didn't train mine to do anything but sit and stay, everything she has is natural ability! I've hunted her on everything from dove and ducks here in SC to pheasnt in South Dakota. I also started running her in HRC hunt tests last year and she's got one more pass to complete her started title, she even got a Judges Award of Merit in novice last year at boykin nationals! I will never own another breed of retriever! |

unique is right. Like a computer taking it all in. I get the impression that she's thinking.....so that's what that's for, now I get it................when my lab would have been thinking.................what ta.....uh.........let me see that again. Very intense concentration when they're in a new environment. Cocoa hit the water today for the first time. I was walking on the golf course and kicked a pine cone into the pond.................airborne she went. We sat by the edge of the pond and made a big deal out of that for about 5 minutes. She made about 7 water retrieves with pine cones and delivered to the hand just like she does with the bumpers. I'm amazed |

I had a boykin along time ago about when i was 8 or so , the only thing i remember about that dog was she out ran the truck going down our country road to my old house, she was freaking super fast and smart as hell too, my dad use to guide at my grandmother's hunting resort over here (Labove's hutning Resort, Sabine Pass, Tx.) and he had her for a retreiver, he told me stories that when he brought her with him that all the other dogs just werent' fast enough so the next morning the hunters just left their dogs in the kennels. You guys are making me want a boykin, that will probably be my next dog. |
