After last fall's duck season, winter was long and miseable. My dogs didn't get much work.
Just recently the weather has improved and training has taken on a more regular format. When Daisy and I attended "Trainin' in the Timber" 2007, Dan Heard showed us a training session that he said Dusty ran almost every week. It takes awhile to build up to the 350+ yard distances that Dusty was running, so today we started with a setup "maxed out" at 225 yards (range finder).
I re-named the marking drill - "Ya-Ha" Singles. The rationale is "run big" with no pressure. The "reps" have a pronounced impact on my dogs' "go" mentality. It works really well training solo and my four dogs like it!
