There is a nice looking full blood 8 month old female that has been owner surrendered at the Acadia Parish Animal Shelter in Crowley, La. She is yellow/white. I don't know all the specifics yet, except for the fact that she will be put-down tomorrow unless some gets her out. NOLA Lab Rescue is working on getting her out and find someone to foster(which I may do) her till she can be adopted. If anyone is interested, please post soon. |

Awful. Go pick her butt up, adopt and then find a suitable home for her. I'd do it just so the dog doesn't get put down. I'm 6-8 hours away though. |

Ok, so you talkin roughly $200 for the spading, and $180 for check up and shots/vaccinations and doctor visits. So about $400.00? |

Show her a pic of the dog, I would be willing to kick in a few bucks to the vet or adoption place so someone could save this dog. |

Update: She is scheduled to be spayed, microchipped and vax tomorrow. No HW treatment is needed so the adoption cost won't be too high. I should be getting her on Saturday to bring to her temp home. |

Seeing that she was given up to the shelter then rescued by NOLA Lab Rescue(non-profit BTW and works off donations), adoption application needs to be done. So those who posted and are interested, please go to and fill out the application. I know there are a couple or so that is interested, so someone is going to lose out. HOWEVER, there are a few others that need homes also. There is one that I told barnes about and he is a male choc lab pup(looks full lab too). This is a great thing and this is the first time I've done this fostering thing. But alot of good family dogs and Dock Dogs(which is how I got involved) is what made me do this for this pup. No pup deserves to die at such a young age just cause she wasn't wanted anymore. I am partial to Labs though. Also, thanks for all the interest and advance help in finding her a possible loving good home. I know there were alot of dog people here and is was a million in 1 shot. I just hope I didn't cross any lines or break rules. One other thing, donations (if you'd like) can be sent to NOLA via their site. There is a link there on the page. Donations help save pups like this and give them a better home. Thanks again guys. You are all great here. +1k for MMT members. |

Just letting you guys know. I have "Sassy" here at my place. I don't feel she will be much of a hunting lab. But she is trying to retrieve tennis balls in the yard. She is getting better from her spay operation and is getting along well with my lab and my kids. She would be a great addition to anyone's family that does not want her to hunt with. She is becoming very playful. She doesn't bite, or bark much (she barks at her reflection in the door window sometimes). I seem to remember that she was owned by and older couple and they just couldn't take care of her anymore. She likes chew toys and is pretty much house trained. She had 1 accident, but that was my fault for not taking her out soon enough. She sleeps in a kennel. She would be great as a good pet. I'm guessing you may want to know why I wouldn't just keep her. Simple answer is she is not what I want for a 2nd dog. I'm looking to get a Fox red or maybe a chessy. Just could see her to get put down just cause her original owner could take care of her anymore or whatever the case was. Also there are many other labs that need to be saved in order to get them to better homes than the pound. Right now there are 2-10month black pups and a couple other that need to be taken out ASAP. Keeping Sassy wouldn't allow me to take any more into my home because I just don’t have the facilities to house more than 2 dogs. And one is mine so he isn’t going anywhere. In short, if someone is interested in adopting her, go and fill out the adoption application at NOLA Lab Rescue. Or, if you think you would do like me and foster a lab till they can be placed in a good home. Let me know. NOLA is running out of people to foster and there are still labs that need rescuing. |

UPDATE! Well it seems all my hard work has paid off. Sassy should be getting adopted soon. She has started to do some fetching and playing around. Pretty much house/kennel trained and is very good with my lab and loves my kids. She has gained a good bit of weight and filled out. Hope her new owners are cool. She should be going to the Luling area. Here are some pics I took this weekend. |

This past Sat I took Sassy to a family that was looking to adopt her. Needless to say she spent the night there and fit in very well. Their 9y/0 chocolate female had to be PTS 2 weeks earlier besuse of health issues. They just didn't know what to do without having a lab. The kids loverd her and she was set to stay. My daughter (8y/o) had a hard time with it when I left, but she knows that we'll be taking in another and getting it ready to go to another family. |

Those kind of dogs that go through crap like that usually make the best dog and even better huntig dog, i picked up a uyellow lab that had been left in a hay trailer to die and she was the best hunting partner i ever had, made a hell of a dog. God rest her soul she loved everyone and enjoyed being with me in the marsh. |

This is my next foster. He was with someone else but he is sneaking under the chainlink fence and going to the neighbors house. Hopefully he'll stay in my yard since I have a 6' wooden fence around the whole yard. Shelter says he 7-9y/o but the vet thinks hes 5ish. Very solid dog at 85lbs+. Bark in the Park is going on this Sunday (Nov 6) in Lafayette. I'll be bring him there so he can possibly get adopted. Also, if anyone is interested, there will be tons of things going on at BitP. There will also be microchipping if anyone is interested. http://www.lafayetteanimalaid.org/UpcomingEvents.htm |
