Ok so me and the old lady been talking about getting a new dog for our lil girl to grow up around and for me to train to hunt also I figured I would get something out the deal lol . The crazy girl thinks we should get a lil inside dog, she is out her mind..I have two chocolate labs already but got sliver on my mind.. Well she agreed to another lab so I was wondering if any of yall on here know some good sliver lab breeders also good or bad idea I have? Any info would help. Chaz Terrebonne |

The few I have been around were definitely not very bright. It seems to me any time a recessive gene such as silver color in a dominantly black breed exists, a lot of breeding back occurs. This doesn't create the best dog.Quit being prejudice & get her a black lab female. If mama wants something smaller get her a boykin. Terry & Poker are n love w/ theirs. |

Capt, Silver labs are on the expensive side. I was looking to get one until I saw the price. Cheapest I've seen was around $900. Not saying you can't afford one, just saying they are more expensive than the normal 3 colors. Also there are 2 shades of silver now. One is a bright silver like a Wiem, and the other is more of a charcoal color. Good luck either way. http://www.silverlabs.com/ http://www.silverandcharcoalkennels.com/current.html |

Also you can just look through these listings to find one on the market now. http://www.puppyfind.com/for_sale/?page ... page%253D1 If you think the Silvers look good, check out the Champange colored ones. |

My brother in laws next door nieghbor has one and it seems real stubborn. It barks all the time and it generally doesnt look like it listens well. Its about 2yrs old now and just sits in its kennel and barks and barks....even when let out it runs around and barks at him when he is training with it. I have been told that they were seriously in bred to get that color...not sure about it though. I do know they do not reconize the silver breed in i think AKC....or something like that... When it comes to dogs, spend the money and buy a good blood line the rest is easy! |

Captchaz...as u can see there's alot of haters out there on the silver lab breed none of which have any legitiment arguments or reasons for not liking the breed its all hear say. This breed has gone through tons of test to verify their purity none of which showed any unfavorable results. I say do your research and make your own decision.and remember any dogs only gonna be as good as the amount of time u spend with them. Just my 2cents |

Yes that would be "hating" because there is 0 scientific info to support your claim. If that's true you should make yourself an easy $100,000 proving all the silver breeders wrong. No one has yet to take up that offer |

I'm not starting shit, nor am I going to get involved in the argument, just providing a few links to provide information for both sides to consider: It is the parent club of each breed that determines the breed standard, not the AKC, as is commonly referenced in pro-silver lab sites. For labs, it is the "Labrador Retriever Club" that determines the standard. Here's there statement on the issue: http://www.thelabradorclub.com/subpages ... age=Silver Here is the standard: http://www.thelabradorclub.com/subpages ... d+Standard |

Quit being a shit-stick docott. If folks want silver labs let them feel good about them. I think silver labs got their start in AR...there is a lot of inbreeding in more than dogs there. ![]() Chaz, keep you a fuzzy yellow female and let them girls love up on each other. ![]() |
