Post We don't "do" the "real thing"....
all year long.....but we try. ;)

Daisy and Gunny are getting ready to run some hunt tests. We trained in three different
areas a few days ago and train about 6 days a week. Weather shuts us down once in a
awhile. First, they did a remote line Y-Drill (three singles - angled back, flat and angled
in) at the Rockton Road spot. Then we drove to Rockcut State Park's dog training area
to run a simple HRC line triple (popper gun, bucket, duck calling and remote wingers).

We finished off with five cold blinds on a pro friend's property. The “prep” will continue
into late August and early September when the tests will be run.

After training “season” and running hunt tests, they will be very sharp for the “real”
thing - ducks and geese.

The two older dogs, Taffey and Kooly run a slimmmed down version of training (not so
intense with a few more days off) which keeps them in shape and helps them feel like
they still have a job. 8-)

It does help that I'm retired.

”Y-Drill” (three marks)

”HRC triple”

”five cold blinds”

I do video training sessions (often), but didn't do this one. Anytime,
distance is a factor, setting up a camera with no one to zoom gives
little to be desired in terms of "seeing much".
