Post HRC Started Pass
A buddy of mine who's a trainer called me Thursday and asked if I wanted to come with him to a hunt test in Texarkana, tx on Saturday. I said sure ill go. He told me that i should bring my hunting lab (whom i trained to hunt) and run her in started. I got up at 5 am, ate some breakfast and was about to get dressed when my buddy sent me a text saying he wasn't going to make it. Well I was up so I figured I would go ahead and make the trip.

So me and my lab made the hour trip in the pouring rain and got there in plenty of time to sign up on site. I had never been at any of these test so I didn't know what to expect. The club putting it on was extremely helpful and made me and my lab feel at home. We headed over to the first test site (water), checked in with the Marshall and waited for our turn. When we got a cup,e of dogs out I unloaded her from her crate and she was hyped up. I guess with all the other dogs, the shooting, and the sound of birds hitting the water had her ready to go. She is usually pretty calm, but with everything going on I could barely make her mind. In all honesty I don't think I've ever seen her this excited! Her turn came up and she was ready to go. The bird was thrown, the shot was fired, I casted her and she took off like a rocket. She is 6 years old and I don't think I've ever seen her take off with such fire!!!! She retrieved the bird, healed at my side and handed me the bird. Her second retrieve was just as fast if not faster. And did I mention it was pouring rain this whole time?!!

then we headed to the land test and it was exactly the same thing. My dog raring to go! Dude while we were in the holding areas she was shaking with excitement! She retrieved her two birds there with ease and earned her first started pass. I know this isn't a big deal to you dog training vets with multiple titles, but this was a very exciting day wi my best hunting buddy!

We will defiantly be going to other test. I think this is an incredible experience that you and your dog can have when hunting seasons not open. I've never really given titles much stock, but that's all changed seeing how much my dog enjoyed it!

If you haven't ever been to a hunt test with your dog, I highly recommend it!

Here's a pic of my, one of my daughters, and my lad, Mia with her first pass ribbon!

Congrats man...I love duck hunting and am always excited when shooting birds, but its a whole new level of excitement when it comes to hunt tests. They have made my dog 10 times better as a retriever and me 100 times better handling her whether it be in the hunt test scenario or in the duck blind.

I will warn you that hunt tests are an addicting game to play...get ready for some fun...Finished tests will make you want to cut a back flip and make you sick all in the same day! Nothings better than getting a good ice bath after a title though.

Congrats TJ.

I got HR title on my main dog Tex at four states last year. It's always fun when they do what they are supposed to!

I've been so busy that I need to get him back in shape and get his HRCH.

The clubs are great and you learn a lot. I know majority of the people with NETX.

Way to go ! You have joined the best club you could if you want a good hunting dog. The H.R.C.H. Is the only clubs that has like minded hunters and no real tools go to there events. It's the only clubs that work the dogs over guns at the test. The goal is to make it a real hunting situation every time. I am the vice pres of the Ottawa valley club. Ask anyone about the Canadian clubs and everyone will tell you how high our standards are down here. Some day I hope to travel south and do the southern 500 club.
