I have a 16 month old female lab was thinking on breeding here next year. She is registered and has a good blood line. Just won't to know what blood test I need to get for her to see if she has any bad genes that would hurt the sell of any pups. Or is there other test I need to do also. |

Just my opinion, but I would wait until she was at least two years of age. Right now it would be like a 12 or 14 year old child getting pregnant. Is her body matured enough to get pregnant? Yes it more than likely is. However she is not mentally mature enough for her instincts needed to properly care for the puppies. In short, breeding too young can result in unnecessary deaths of puppies or other problems as a result of the mother not yet having matured enough to know how to care for her young. |

I wouldn't buy a pup without : OFA (hips and Elbows) CERF CNM EIC (especially for labs) I also always like seeing titles (SH, MH, AFC, etc). The more the better. |

I never got the papers for my male black lab, but that SOB hunts like a champion. Took him to the vet this morning for his regular checkup. It was funny. Rex does not like to be tightly held by anyone but my son. So the female Vet and her female attendants....4 of them and me, tried to hold him on the table so they could give him his shots. He would have nothing of it. I finally just had to hold his head while everyone but the Vet backed away and he did fine, until she grabbed his balls. He went nuts and had he not been muzzled somebody would have gotten bit. The female Vet told me that usually males like it when she grabs their balls and the female assistants all concurred, including me. Anyway, the Vet described Rex as the finest looking lab she had every seen...and she's seen lots of hunitng labs. She said his muscle definition was extraordinary. He's very strong. He ways about 65lbs. I'd like to breed him for a pup so if anyone has a female maybe we can do business. |

Look at her mother, If them hips and back side are big move on. If her mouth don't stop, RUN. As far as dogs, I stopped reading after DGuidry mentioned his black dog's ball's. |
