I have heard for year don't hunt your dog during early teal season becouse of gators. I see plenty of people do. My Question is has anyone seen a hunting dog get attacked by one. I'am not talking about a pet in the yard kind of deal. People hunt out of boats during early teal season and I have never heard about someone getting attacked.

ive seen a man sitting at launch before crying because his dog was eatin.
i just do it smart, when i hunt my dog during teal season i will hunt low waters only. a big gator will not be in 8" of water because he has no where to hide or no way to protect himself (ie: going under) also in low water you will very easily see a gator coming.

Just do not put your dog in that situation and then the laws of averages are on your side and your dog's side.

It is best not to do it. I talked to a guy that hunts off black bayou that was taking a nap and his kids were throwing the bumper for the lab in the main channel. He kids woke him up in a panic because the dog had been attacked and pulled under and they never saw it again. It happens faster than you think.

No nothing was supporting it but she held just long enough to take a pic and I took it from her. It was really asshole thing to do to her but I was trying to prove my point to Gameover but he is to much of a idiot to understand

I run the ponds I hunt year round and shine them at night. If I see no gators I will run my dog, otherwise she stays on the boat.

You are always taking a chance hunting your dog during early teal season. Me personally I don't want to take the chance of loosing mine. I only let him near gators when they are dead!

Yes. I saw a yellow lab attacked and killed while working out of an adjacent blind down at the Wax during teal season in 2004.

They were warned at the launch, but decided to bring the dog anyway.

not quite dfou.........the poperty owners get ten tags a year..........they have killed some BIG gators there.......
So I missed the original question as well

The pic above I took last year in a dry pond we where working in...........the moring this pic was taken it was 26 degrees.........she had babies in that hole with her............Not sure she could have eaten my dog.........but shows that "cold" is still relative.........
she was not a happy camper that we were there

And even then they mostly just bow up and hiss. I've heard the stories but I personally don't know anyone who has lost a dog while hunting due to an alligator attack. I'm sure it's possible though.

Never seen it myself, but heard the stories from people its happened too. I NEVER take my dog for teal season. Its never the gator you see that gets'em. My dog is my child, I'd never be able to live with myself if something like that happend to her.

Had a buddy loose a dual grand night champion female walker coondog to a gator one night in an area there normally arent any gators. He said the barking stopped he heard a squeal and that was it.

A friend, who introduced me to duck hunting, took one out during teal season and had it get attacked. The dog managed to get away, but was so tore up, he had to put it down. It happened before I started duck hunting about ten years ago, and I don't think he has owned another lab since.
