I'm looking for a pup around Arkansas and I stumbled across lost branch boykins. I saw that at least a few of the guys on here have boykins and a couple from lost branch. I was wondering what ya'll thought about the pups and that particular kennel. My main concerns are health, temperament, and energy level. I want a good duck dog but id be ok with just having another hunting buddy.

Not sure about that kennel. I do know of a place in Athens AL. called "spin top kennels" that has some jam up dogs. He breeds boykins and GSP's. Super nice guy that owns the place. Not sure what his name is it's been a few years since I was there getting a pup.

Great dogs and have great temperment (good with kids) but hate coons. They are known to have separation anxiety and hip dysplasia (later in life). I love mine, he goes everywhere with me and everyone loves him. At 26lbs he dont rock the boat or get in the way, but loves to please and wont stop going until you tell him to stop. There are tons of kennels, but they all come from mainly the same lines and BSS is very strict so if its registered, it should be a good dog.

Bassmaster, I have a male boykin I got from a bss breeder and couldn't be happier. They will not be able to bust through the hydrilla or cattails like a lab can but that is probably where their shortcomings stop. They are great on dove fields in the heat and flush quail just as easy. Their hair is sort of silky so they shed more lilke a cat but mine is a minimal shedder. When they come in from the field and get a bath they will curl up with your wife just like a lap dog so they serve double duty. I don't think you can go wrong as long as you are willing to train and hunt them.

I usually hunt timber, small lakes or a rice field. I figure a boykin will handle any obstacle that arkansas could throw at it during duck season. Thanks for the replies guys. I talked to the guy at lost branch and he answered a bunch of my questions. As soon as I can get on the list I'm definitely going to get a pup! Hopefully I'm going to get to meet his dogs in a few weeks.

whats the price range on these dogs ? been looking for a hunting buddy also
