What temp for you not to take the dog?

I've had mine in 9 degree temps before and he did fine but you got to keep a good eye on them I seen guys take some older dogs and seen em shut down on 20 degree days.

to me it depends on the dogs age, and breed we had ours out last year when it was around 17 degrees and the lake froze over and the only trouble i seen out of her was when the ice would break made her stumble but that is to be expected.....we keep 2 heaters in our blind to help keep them warm

Ice is very hard on them.

Do you let your dog sleep in a warm house in a cozy bed?

We will hunt dogs into Jan here in wi in the ice. Just need to take care of them.

Dry them off, wool blankets, heaters if in the blind. Only send them on needed retrieves.

Ice is the only deciding factor for us. We will take them in all temps, but keep them out of the water and just use for hunting in cover if there is ice. Some dogs can do it, some can't. As stated before, you have to keep a very close eye on them.

I hunt em in ice and all. It's awesome watching them slide across a frozen pond to pick up birds I have even parked a truck 20 ft from pond and sat in heater to warm up and let dog warm up many times and go rite back down to shooting more

I hunt my labs in freezing and below temps.. Never had an issue to date.. I always have a well fitting vest on them which I believe helps a lot ..

I just hunted my dog yesterday with temps in the 20's and wind chills in the teens and our season just started a few weeks ago. Only going to get a lot colder.

One of mine came from Arkadelphia. mike and Amanda.

We hunt pools 2-5 and so far it's been terrible at best. We spent most of our time so far on 3 and 4. We have a few friends futher down river with very similarly results. Reports from a few out in western MN past Alexandera have been doing VERY well, hearing fair reports 1.5 hrs north of the cities, buddies close to Milacs and Onamia have been slow iin most of their normal spots. Had a few guys that make their normal ND trip and said they are very busy puttin in more drain tile but hunting wasn't impacted yet.
