The 2017 Fun Run will be held Friday June 9th through Sunday June 11th with the main run being held on Saturday the 10th. The time is upon us again! This is a really great event and we've had a great turnout for the last several years. This is a family friendly event that will kick off on Friday night, carry on all day on Saturday, and then come to a close on Sunday morning. It's always good food, good people, and good times. This is a fundraiser event. All proceeds will go directly to the GCLA (Greater Caddo Lake Association), and proceeds will be used to fight several invasive species, most important right now, the infestation of Giant Salvinia. If anyone would like to put funds directly to the cause, or help fund the lunch and dinner so more of the income from that will make it back to the lake, please shoot me a pm. Last year we raised nearly $6000 for the cause. We had a little bit of weather and a little smaller crowd, so I was really happy with the turnout all things considered. We look forward to another successful year. I will be adding to this thread as we start to get some of the other details pinned down. Look forward to seeing you all out there again! *Looks like we will have Josh from Midnight Smokers' preparing lunch and dinner again for us this year. Won't have a menu until closer to the run, but I assure you, you won't be disappointed. Should be able to do $7 lunch and $10 dinners again (if this changes, I will update). I've started two threads with polls for lunch and dinner attendance. Please participate, and please pass the word around on other media outlets where information about this ride may be floating around. Please encourage people who don't frequent MMT, but who plan to participate in the run and our meals to come here and give us their headcounts. We've been slightly under on lunches and over on dinner the last couple of years. Having accurate headcounts will help us out tremendously here. We will not likely have as many "extra" shirts this year as I'm not sure we will be able to have them fully donated like years past. More info on that when it's available. **We'll get a sponsors thread up soon. Daniel "russ" Russell will be heading up the sponsor dept and he plans to add at least one helper to his list. For now, anyone who knows they'd like to sponsor is more than welcome to contact either of us via pm. We have some neat stuff in the works already, and we will be doing two separate raffles this year. More info to come soon! |

I live right down the street from Sour Lake on 326, and there's no way I'm going to miss this ride.... just FYI... it's about a 3hr drive, well worth it. |

The Saturday morning run was 23-24 miles last year. After lunch we spent 2-3 hours at onion island (4 miles or so), but some people just go ride around the lake. There's a raffle, and a couple eatins on Saturday. We made a run Friday night to go eat up the river when the fish fry got rained out. See above post directed at setx for more info on the fish fry. Look forward to seeing a new face. |

Think onion island is closers to 10 miles than 4. We may extend the morning ride by a few miles this year. We were gonna do it last year but there was a tree down blocking the path we were gonna double back on. We do a lot of riding on saturday. Don't think I've ever heard anyone say they'd never come back, and a lot of people make plans to come out earlier the next year. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk |

With all the trails and riding that's done over the weekend. It's not impossible to ride over 100 miles. Just depends on how much time you wanna spend in the boat. |

Hey I see it's a fundraiser but what is the cost to participate? Wife and I are thinking about coming out. We've never been before...what do we need to know? Can someone give a rough idea of how the weekend plays out? |

I spoke with uncertain inn about a week ago and they had rooms left on the highway side. Nothing left on water side. I believe Hodge Podge still has a few cabins available. I booked one a week ago and they had one left with waterfront. |

The Corp of Engineers will keep dropping lake levels at Lake O' Pines. They opened the gates to over 3000 cfs the Big Cypress rose over 2 feet, Little Cypress and Black Cypress were flowing backward for a couple of days then went to a stand still. Yesterday Big Cypress dropped 8 inches because they closed the gates to 1900 cfs. I hope they get finished with their monkeying around with the gates so Caddo can get to its summer time fun level. Pines is a flood control reservoir not a recreational lake. Even thou they deny it they contributed to the flooding of Caddo last March. But no matter what there will be water for a rooster tail and probably some veggies to turn it green. POP A TOP AND GAS ON IT! |
