Post Bowfishing ban withdrawn!!
Good news guys. I just received this email from Sen. Dan Claitor, author of the bill. It's nice to see that they listened for once. It may come up next session, but it is a victory for now.

Everyone:

SB 573 (redfish bill) has been withdraw from the agenda of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and, in fact, the Senate calendar for this 2010 session.

There is no need to travel to the Capitol for the meeting which was originally scheduled for tomorrow, April 22nd.

Thank you for participating in your local government.

Dan Claitor

I just looked at the committee agenda site & it notes that SB573 has been removed as of 2:22 PM today. The following link will get you to the committee page. Click upcoming meetings & then the Senate Natural Resources Committee.

I got the same email. Thank god this idiot came to his senses. Please keep the La Bowfishing Association rolling because I'm sure a bill like this will come up again. F$uck Jenkins and the CCA!

Well, as y'all already know the bill was pulled. I went to the capital this morning for the meeting, as did about 20 or so other bowfishers. The lobbyist that was working for the Louisiana Bowfishing Association said that not only was the bill pulled from the 2010 Senate Agenda, it was also deleted from the record books. So its actually as if the bill never existed.

I do agree that we need to stay united on this thing. I'm sure we haven't heard the last of this. I'm interested in joining the association.

As for Sen. Claitor, I'm sure he thought he was doing the best thing based on the info he was given. I'm glad to see that he was man enough to pull the plug on it before it went too far.

I'm not into the whole bowfishing thang but I will say this you all need to stay together and prepared. The CCA will try this again sooner or later.
